Apagg, could you tell me why Jesus had two boats entered as first crews?

james' city boat won the womens s4!

James says it was actually S3.

And beat every college crew except FaT and Jesus... he would like to add...

Our W2 crashed out on the way back, apparently, resulting in an unrowable boat with a cracked bow...

I bet Kat's happy with that...

Apparently he'd also like to point out that "his bunch of girlies was a mere 14 seconds behind you strapping young men" on the first leg :p:

He also says that you both need to bring your pots to the next meet so you can drink out of them.

Because for some reason they decided to row mixed first/second eights, apparently.

lol, probably not. Hehe, we still have a IV with a saxboard seemingly held together with gaffer tape after something similar happened in fairbairns. :s-smilie:

Hmm, I can't really take much offence from a comment that implicity describes me as "strapping" I'm still quite relived we weren't overtaken by the schoolgirls marshalling behind us

pots?
Quick question to anyone who might know - if you row for a city club, does that exclude you from rowing with a college? Apparently one of our W2 women has been doing outings with 99s, without telling anyone (she's also tried to form a merged crew with Girton, and now wants to row for Clare, because she want to row bumps. Which would leave us with three women for a W2 IV boat...)

Hmm, pretty sure it does, not sure though. I recall FtB seeming to know the technicalities of that rule when it last came up in discussion.

No idea, possibly just an admin error; the slower crew has since been changed to a 2nd boat though, and as such is the fastest 2nd boat on the river
scipio- pots are what you get when you win- those glass tankards. :p:

And no, you're not allowed to row for both town and college clubs because of the training restrictions. If for example, all of Jesus first men decided to join 99s, they could go on night outings that college crews aren't allowed to do and that would be an unfair advantage. You can cox for town and college though, cos of the lack of coxes generally

What, we actually get something?

Yep. More than three entries in your category (Men's Lower), ergo your crew get pots. It's probably worth reminding someone about it.

Bloody Fog, and bloody CUCBC. This predictive flag nonsense just makes everything more complicated, it's not like fog can be accurately predicted anyway.

If they change the flag at 10pm and then the weather is ok in the morning, then it's a bit late for us cause our outing will already have been cancelled by the flag.
Do you mean you didn't have an outing this morning? or is this for tomorrow?

If it makes you feel any better, i got ridiculously cold, wet feet getting our boat out this morning - the fog wasn't an issue, the fact that the water was at least 2 or 3 feet up the bank was...

This is for tomorrow. I'm overreacting though, the thing that's really annoying me is that I'm now the one who has to make the call, and I don't whether to do it when the predictive flag goes up or wait till the morning.

High water is quite nasty, although cold feet are perhaps preferable to making the error of getting into a boat which is only in a couple of inches of water.
Well, FTB's town crew has just gone out. They didn't have any problems with the high water despite the darkness. Mind you, it's his call since he's water safety officer! If it doesn't rain over night it'll go down by the morning beacuse of the tides at Denver.

further to this, apparently neither boat was our actual first boat, but were supposed to be two evenly matched boats composed of the Upper Men. However, two guys from the slower boat were ill so we replaced them with ex-novices.

Yay, got my 2k time down by 11 seconds. It's still ****, but at least now less so.
what was it? I'm curious... 11 seconds is a good drop!

Argh, our stash STILL isn't here, we've got our first (properly) senior race on Saturday and 3/4 of the boat will be rowing without stash. Gaaay.

In other news, I'm at the stage of lowering myself into chairs and walking down the stairs backwards, circuits have destroyed me. I've also got an outing on Thursday morning, meeting at the boathouse at 6.30, with a drinking society swap on Wedneday night. A bottle of wine + 6-8 pints + shots + 6.30am rowing = oh dear.
