Plan on walking taking one hell of a lot longer than you would imagine - suddenly the river starts to seem really long when you walk it for the first time having only rowed it before. If you have a bike, that would be much quicker. (well, i suppose that's stating the obvious, but you know what i mean..)
I walked/cycled/narrowboated the river long before I rowed it! So I find it reallt odd and really much quicker than I had previously thought it to be.
Was it your bank party that I crashed into quite spectacularly just before the railway bridge then? You probably weren't watching at that point but I tried to overtake, went the wrong way, clipped the back wheel of one of your guys and went splat! I managed the rest of the day but my arm was getting progressively more painful and stiff so I went to Addies as a patient rather than a student and turns out I've fractured the head of my radius. So no more umpiring for me...

Yeah, we had an awesome battle with Wolfson today and they had no idea who the bump was. Idiots...
Were you Catz M1? If so, I was your SU too. I don't think your bank party like me much... But I was also deeply unimpressed by the CUR commentator, I heard her ramblings as she cycled by and shouted the actual result to her but doubt she was paying attention.
Good luck tomorrow everyone, wish I could still be out there!

Ouch. We were Christ's 4, 2nd from bottom of 4th division. Not sure if we had much of a bank party by the railway bridge, as our finish was before then.

I am indeed Catz M1 - I think our bank party better come to like you as I believe you're SUing us again today! They are convinced we made contact before Ditton though - ah well, the extra 600m did us well as we now know we can keep it going I also think I may be JUing with you later? Not sure...bottom 3 boats of W3.

Sorry, I meant motorway bridge. I didn't last long.

Unfortunately I'm not yet a master of one-handed cycling so I'm not doing any umpiring today any more. I'm sitting at home with a sling and lots of painkillers. Might see you at the umpires dinner next week though?
And yes, they were yelling at me that you bumped around Ditton, and while you guys did get very close and were hopping your bow over their stern, neither I nor my JU saw any contact (though I'm sure they'll swear blind there was ). Was very impressed with how you came back at them though!
I think there was a bit of chaos. Magdelene bumped Tit Hall, and Catz overbumped Downing. Apparently it was a bit random, as Downing crashed into a tree, and were backing it down :P
Mixed day for Christ's. W1 still on for blades, M2 bumped, but W2 were bumped following a crab in their start, and M1 got bumped again. Walking past them on the way back, they looked incredibly disappointed.

That was hilarious. How Downing managed to crash on the outside of Ditton, the widest corner known to man, I have no idea. Our girls couldn't believe it when we overbumped. Where were you sitting in your boat? I was your JU today.
No spoons for me! Yay! We rowed quite well, pushed off Clare II once they got the bell and had a nice row home once they got bumped by Magdelene just before Ditton.
What utter tosh. Peterhouse M1 bumped Churchill M1 - and have pink paint all over their bow to prove it - Churchill refused to concede and the umpires didn't call it. What a joke.

I was a marshall and heard over the radio, the umpire watching it said that the peterhouse bow crossed the stern a couple of times without any contact. But if you have pink paint on the bow then it's pretty conclusive. Is there any way to appeal?
I was looking at the notes and fines and was wondering - what does someone have to do to be given a fine for incompetant marshalling or incompetant coxing?
