Pah, although undoubtedly that boat would be pretty good, I think a mixed VIII would be more fun. Even if you have to put me at 3.

Where are we planning on getting the boat from, anyway? :p:

Hmm, well, between us, James and I hold three committee positions in our rowing club, so I'm sure we could sort something out... even if it is made of wood...

Hmm, I may have expressed an interest to row for Addies, and this might've been taken seriously.

Apparently, they were kicked off the river last year for being far too dangerous and will therefore start bottom of the M6 division for Mays. They won't have to go through a getting on race though, as they're technically an M1.

Just make sure you actually have some outings beforehand and you might be ok.

I would row for a TSR boat, but kind of can't.

First time on the water since bumps today, in a slightly unbalanced IV.

Also, what's the purpose of putting clams on blades for a IV?
Reply 1565
the same reason you put them on an eight (though there's a bigger reason for doing so in a 4, obv)

was my first water outing just now too (though in the past 4 days i've rowed 42k, done two weights sessions and a run). am subbing into the mays boat until we get the uni rowers. very scrappy.

I think we passed a Caius VIII. Was that you?

aren't you an engineer???

adding the clam gives you more turning moment about the gate, so that it's easier to apply force in the water. downfalls: you get a shorter stroke, plus the handle is shifted slightly out of the boat.

if you passed the yellow boat, yes. if the black one, no.

ah macarena.

they want me to row in HORR.

You didn't look too shabby when I saw you, a bit splashy maybe, but that's fair enough given the strength of the wind on the reach this afternoon.

We've had 4 outings in four days, its knackering. But we have been shamed into taking action after our horrendous bumps performance.

Our M1 our currently 2 hours through a 24hour erg, trying to go the 400km between Girton and Paris (that means an average split of 1:48 to do it in the 24hours), they are crazy.

Cambridge lost to Oxford by 20seconds in WeHoRR, but that's nothing over 4miles, should be a close race on the 22nd.
Downing were the fastest college, 0.7secs ahead of FaT.

ftb's city W1 were only 10 secs behind CUWBC (28th overall) despite being 100+ boats later and therefore having a slower tide. There was much celebrating at city last night!
This makes then technically the fastest women on the Cam, since the blues women row on the Ouse!

tomorrow looks to be the start of a busy week:

wed: 6x6.5k erg]

why is that ever going to be useful or a good idea... ?

I'd assume it's morning 3x6 and evening 3x6, which would be fine, otherwise he's in for a very boring two and a bit hours of exercise.

Do the words "overtraining" mean anything to anyone?

I'm still buzzing after WEHoRR. And I know we could have been faster still reasonably easily, too.

Incidentally my week plan:

Sunday: Drink
Monday: Hangover induced chocolate fetish
Tuesday: Think about doing an erg, then chocolate
Wednesday: Drink
Thursday: Hangover, more drink
Friday: Hangover, more drink

Do the words "undertraining" mean anything to anyone? :p:

Hmmm, it looks like we're not doing Cardinals simply because the captain is in a bad mood, the reply to my question was 'feel free to sort it out yourself', and my request for contact details to do so seems to be getting ignored... Bloody women :p:

I found the e-mail address of the woman we should e-mail, and am quite happy to do it myself. Don't you be including me in your 'Bloody women'! You have no idea how much I want to do Cardinals!
