Are any of them rowing for other teams as well? It's possible that I'll be subbing for W3 if the races don't clash.
We're not needing to meet at the boathouse until 10, so as my 8 o clock Simoco outing has been cancelled I can get a lie in for the first time this week! Huzzah!

Sunday will be up early though for division 1 of the winter league, so I think I might well enjoy it whilst I can.

And in terms of coxes buying food for their crews, I'm getting chocolate cake and possibly beer as well; anyone want to sub into my boat? :p:

Good luck tomorrow James, and anyone else racing!

I like the idea of pushes for 3 - probably more effective. And as for hoarse voices, you should have heard our poor cox after our 2nd day as sandwich boat!

Woo I hear King's M1 beat Caius M1 (though to be fair Caius weren't really the favourites looking at their more recent results...!)

Right, time to head to the boathouse.

Yep, Kings were a good length or so ahead at the motorway bridge. Kudos to them.
Good luck to all Pebroke Regatters (it's a word!). I'm off to the boat club now...
We need it, we're racing Caius W1 next. :s-smilie:

I assume you mean the railway bridge

Anyone know how Clare are doing?

King's M3's race against Caius IV was HILARIOUS! Our stroke caught a crab on the thirst stroke of our power 10 early on but we still managed to hold it together and he recovered by the 6th power stroke. By about stroke 8, I think we were about half a length ahead of Caius.

That was when my oar handle (I'm at 2) came swinging past my head as I instinctively did a reverse-limbo. The boat came to a sudden yet smooth stop. Bow looked behind him and noticed that the bank was about 3 inches from his shoulder- about 3-4 feet of the bow of our boat was actually stuck in the muddy bank. Bow and I had to get out and dig us out with the very kind help of two nice blokes standing by the bank.

We then had to wait until the division ended, and began rowing back getting all sorts of hilarious looks from other boats coming the other way when the bank party realised that we were VERY low on the bow. They were scared that the bow was taking on water or something, so they made me and bow walk back with our oars, getting more dodgy looks from townies and looking out of place in our nice purple lycra now covered in Cam-bed-slime.

All in all it was a pretty fantastically hilarious "race". I've definitely got my money's worth:p:
Well, FaT II pipped us, as we kind of expected.

Problem was we had a bad start, and they were a quarter of a length up from the off. We gained a bit, lost a bit, then gained a bit again, then they started to pull off about half way on, and ended up 1.5 lengths ahead.

Promising, though. If we'd got a better start I think we could have taken them. Which is impressive, considering the show they've put on this term (especially at Binson Head).

I hope everyone had a good day. I certainly enjoyed it. Roll on Lents!

Not good :frown:

We were pretty inept! We had 3 subs in the boat, but that's no excuse for the way we rowed today. It was embarrassing. Worst rowing we've done this term. It was shameful! Lots of work to do before the Lents - but I'm confident we'll be okay, everyone knows today was bad, but we just need to forget about it and move on.
We finished a good minute or so ahead of Clare Hall (thanks for rowing. We know you didn't want to and we appreciate it). But lost by one measly second to Caius W1. Bah. We were ahead of them most of the way too.

Ah well, if it had been bumps, we would have got them. Pretty good given that they're 2nd and we're 17th!

We had a great day - lost to FaT W1 by less than a boat length (according to our cox), despite them being 4th in lents and us being 22nd! Our cox spent most of the race screaming 'come on, this is Trinity!' at us. I think she enjoyed herself. And we got a lovely cheer from the next division going under the railway bridge.

So it looks like Caius are finally going to lose that headship of theirs, unless they somehow manage to stack the boat like they always seem to do (although it looks like this year it will take a lot of stacking!!!)

It's going to take a lot of stacking to hold off FaT...could be exciting!

Yep, it'll take a hell of a lot of stacking! I know someone at Caius who said there is some serious 'issues' within the club, and they've practically admitted they'll lose the headship.
