Mr. ASBO or whatever he's called is having a bit of a period today, and has gone ******* mental at every boat that went past. It took a snap at our 7's blade between Grassy and First Post, and then as we were going round first post (about 40 metres away from him) he decided to start flying towards us - incidentally, how ******* big are swans?! - and then landed on our stern and started taking bites out of our cox. Lovely weather for it this morning though...

Amen to that. I had to shoo some away so we could get our boat out on friday and they're ******* scary.

Many many years ago (I think Mays 05???) we very nearly got bumped thanks to a bloody swan that attacked us as we were about to cross the finish line. Fortunately the 6 people who didn't have swan entangled in their riggers managed to get us across the line before Downing II did.

no, seriously guys, that swan is a pussy.

all he ever does is pretend to try and bite blades... if he actually got hold of one, he wouldn't know what to do.

Probably snap it in two with his beak, then go and break all of bowside's ams with its wing. It is a thing of evil. I think we should all be worried that it will get all the other swans to rise up and overthrow the boaties.

I can vouch for the fact that this isn't all he ever does. Our cox has been full-on attacked by him at least twice, and he's charged at us more times than that. He seems to have been calming down a little recently though.

In case you are interested in seeing Peterhouse at all... we (W1) are starting head of division 2 on the first day, ...

ooo... we'll be chasing you... :yep:

During this mornings outing our cox was attacked five times by the swan. It decided to circle our boat for a bit, until we thought a practice start would be the best way to escape. Of course it then flew at us. Apparently they are going to cage off the mother and kids for bumps.

Sidney W1 are looking very fast. Possibly on for blades...not sure about anyone else really, although I will say that Newnham W1 are looking a lot better than they have in recent years.

I doubt Sidney will be getting blades. We (FaT W1) comfortably beat them in the Peterborough Sprints at the weekend. They're certainly neat, but don't seem to have a huge amount of power.

Um...yeah...but you're about a full division higher than they are...

if womens bumps are anything like mens bumps, that means nothing.

true, except that it does mean there'll be no competition between FAT W1 and Sidney Sussex W1, so dismissing their chances of blades based on that is a bit silly.

Not sure why I'm arguing anyway. Trying to take my mind of my own race I guess...:p:

Chewwy, if you hold off downing II for a reasonable period tomorrow I will love you forever. We'll bump them before ditton, fingers crossed.

Also, Caius 1st boat on for headship, epic effort, and something nobody expected.
Reply 1758
we probably will.
Today was awesome... Has anyone actually seen Tit Hall W1 rowing recently - they seem to be headed down, but will churchill catch them, or have they just been caught inbetween good boats? Likewise, jesus W2 - any good?
