Was wondering what the hell was going on. Was also somewhat baffled by how long it apparently took for them to attempt doing something really amazing, like, er, you know, backing it down........

They were backing it down. But they were a bunch of girls, and they weren't backing it particularly hard. Or pushing it out of the bank particularly hard.

Hmm, no, but that's an intriguing idea.

Well, you don't know Jack, who rowed for City- but he wore a Mankini, plus the curly wig and borat sunglasses, to race in for the Christmas Head the year before last.

In the snow.

Mentalist. But he won the fancy dress competition...

You've blatantly just linked to that because it mentions your costume as well

Nah, the article only mentions the Chesterton crew at all because the author of said article was rowing in that boat, dressed as a storm trooper!

marhsalled this morning. not a single boat that looked remotely competent out. depressing.
Talking of incompetents: Yesterday, James has to shout at an some idiots taking the LMBC tub out. neither of the two in the coxes seat had lifejackets. It must have confused the hell out of them as well, to have rowing instructions shouted at them from a 'river gypsy' on a 'barge'!

And earlier the same day, an incomptent St Ives IV nearly got themselves killed by swerving onto the wrong side of the river, for no reason that we could see, in front of our narrowboat. Luckily, by going hard astern, we were able to avoid sinking them and breaking their boat...

Only beaten by 1 women's crew. That's a result as far as I'm concerned
Hi everyone, I'm also coming to Cambridge this year and was wondering what sort of times girls need to be getting in 2000m ergs to be looking at high-ish college teams?
Did anyone else see the LMBC girls boat out yesterday at about 12 where only 7 of them actually had blades, despite there being 8 in the boat (and a cox)? The girl at 2 was going through the motions of the stroke, but with an invisible blade. Very odd!

If that women's crew was City W1, bear in mind that, last year when I was coxing them, we could keep up with City M1 on a short sprint, there's no shame in being beaten by them!

Your shipment of EPIC FAIL has arrived.

Yes, that was unfortunate- there's a big thread about it on the banter boards.
What basically happened: Emma M2 overshot where they were supposed to park while marshalling, so the cox decided to back it down all 8 :erm:
For some reason, stroke lost his grip on his blade at frontstops :o:
At exactly that moment, the cox decided to lean out to see what was happening :eek3:

Yes, I think it was.

Now I have to go and sort out a cox for 2 weeks when our regular one is going to be away. Rowing is making me develop so many life skills it's actually a bit worrying

Another odd thing I saw on Saturday: A Christs crew (I'm fairly sure it was Christs) were rowing past Queens with an inflatable sex doll on the bow!

Oddly enough though, the incident report to British Rowing will have to classify it as "Capsize due to incompetence".

Yes, It was our M3 - I've heard someone mention it, not entirely sure what it was about though...

Epic win to our M3 boat then. At least they did better than Downing ?W2?, who managed to knock themselves into the bank at the riverside bridge and then rotate ninety degrees, blocking off the whole river.

Doesn't quite beat those poor Emma M2 buggers, though.
