right, medical students give us a hand.
got hit in eye recently which temporarily blinded me, doctor said go home and it'll be better next day. this was a few days ago. i can see now but the white bit of my eye seems to have a yellowish tinge, there's blobs on blood on it (one of them is pretty big 5mm across), and my pupil in that eye is bigger than in the other one (bright lights still make it hurt).

so what's wrong do you think, and what should i do?

you must have had some nerve damage to cause one pupil to be bigger than the other... that is quite a serious sign...

there is bleeding into the eye so that's the red blobs... and perhaps you have got some mild signs of jaundice because it has a yellow-ish tinge... but i'm not really that sure...

you really need to go doctor straight away and if i was you i'd definitely go to an optician as well... you need to have you cranial nerves tested if you need to know what is wrong...

I think that would require a specialised optometrist. It certainly seems like a condition that most medical students wouldn't be familiar with because of the lack of both technical knowledge and practical experience!

Don't make sweeping generalisations about medical students... You have absolutely no idea about what you are talking about...

I know that having one pupil bigger than the other is a sign of oculomotor nerve damage... but there is no drooping of the eyelid and i can't assess motor nerve damage without testing the cranial nerves... which is why i suggested him going to the doctor to get the cranial nerves tested...

Omg...utter *******s. Someone revising neuro stuff at moment?

"You must have had some nerve damage"..no. The trauma could just have affected the pupil. When blood is broken down it looks yellowish - so its not likely you have jaundice!!

blimey..

I do agree though to go to your doctors (not opticians, unless you think you might need glasses too) as soon as possible.

Im not going to pretend to know - but definately go to docs. If you can see out if it, id take that as being a good sign! And blood will go.

You might end up like David Bowie; he had a similar incident which made his eyes all cool.

And neither, sir, do you.

OP, that's an example as to why you should never take medical advice from this board. If you think your eye should be back to normal by now, then go to the doctor's.

Revenged, it would be common courtesy to leave your name when you neg rep people. And the point I made was a fair one, intended to help the OP to make the right choice in visiting the doctor.

I would be careful with the eye that has a large pupil... a guy I know ended up with the pupil in one of his eyes being constantly dilated and the hospital gave him a pair of special sunglasses which he had to wear all the time to protect the eye from the sun. Until it healed, of course.
