Yes you were my guide! Hey! I'm the girl who was with the guy in the grey hoodie if you remember me!

The first one was NASTY lol i will cry if i get put in there! The second one was nice though i agree! Groovy oval table too and nice rooms! I submitted my accommodation application just now

The Glen Eyre one wasn't the ground floor i don't think and it stank but the second one was the ground floor and it smelt nice lol

Have you accepted Soton as your first choice? Is that when you start hearing about what accommodation you want? Also what was the form like? Any room to specify anything??

Yes i accepted it as my firm choice

I got sent an accommodation brochure when they sent me my offer letter, but the online accommodation form only came up on Tuesday so i applied using that.

I just had to choose at least 3 but up to 5... i thought you could specify the exact hall but you can't you just have to specify the complex, e.g. glen eyre :frown:

You have to choose either catered or self-catered, room type - e.g. ensuite, basic, standard with washbasin etc, contract length - e.g. 39 weeks and location - e.g. glen eyre or small halls.

You should have a look at their new accommodation website i found it really helpful! I think it's www.soton.accommodation.ac.uk or something like that but if you go onto their website, click undergraduate study>accomodation>accomodation website and it will have all the info about it on there!

Yes that was us  hehe, i liked your hoody!

You were a good guide!

I was going to accept it a while ago but thought i better wait until after i visited just in case i hated it but it was ace! Do you like it there?

I applied for accomodation earlier in Glen Eyre x2 (ensuite and enhanced self-catered) and Small Halls x1 (ensuite self-catered), what do you think my chances are of getting a place there?

Ok this might come across as mean but i really don't mean it in a mean way, but i was just wondering you know the lady with the stutter, is it really hard to learn from her? I just imagine that it would be, but i don't mean to be nasty i was just wondering as we were talking about it.

You still apply for accommodation if you accept Soton as your insurance. On some of your letters from them they should have assigned you a student number which will allow you to apply for the accommodation online at www.onlineaccommodation.soton.ac.uk

Re: My accommodation

Looks unlikely that my fiance and I have managed to get the uni accommodation together :frown: The deadline for hearing back is tomorrow and still no offer. Sucks majorly.

I had interviews and everything for my course in southampton so i was very late getting my appliccation in for accomodation and still got my first choice! Which was enhanced rooms in Glen Eyre.... Jellicoe  vvv nice accomodation...big rooms...double beds(well not quite but they fit 2 people in vv easily!) and massive wardrobes lol oh and a huge kitchen and 2 bathrooms between 6 people!
I loved it there! I sadly left...as i didnt like my course... but i do miss jellicoe and all the friends i made threre!
Only downside i'd say is not being able to get anywere except your flat... its vv safe...but 2 flats ajoin each other and even the door between that is locked....which is rubbish ive uve made friends with the other 6 people! It does isolate u a bit if your struggling to meet people....but id suggest just going and knocking on someones door....what we did and we all made lots and lots of friends !
be warned....glen eyre reception is a joke...god knows what they are being paid for...my poor flat mate had no rail in his wardrobe for the first 2 months...and we told them numerous times...and he finally got one just before xmas :P
But yeh....glen eyres great

Accommodation office said they would try and get everything out today but I haven't received anything saying yes/no. It's annoying because on Monday the private accommodation list is released and I have to start looking for accommodation there if the Uni hasn't told me.

Is there anywhere I can 'comment' on their system?

She doesnt have a stutter, unless I really didnt realise it when she taught me for a year! Shes actually not a bad teacher, maybe a tad boring but it comes with the stat teritory.

lol....well im sure you could if you tried in jellicoe....except a VERY loud alarm would go off....and generally wake up the entire building!! not that anyone ever did anything about alarms going off.....despite glen eyre reception looking over the firedoor my entire flat went out of every day....setting off an alarm...:p: stooooopid reception people!
Reply 97
haha our doors unlocked (im in roll)
they'v locked it many times but we just unlock it- we'v managed to find a way that doesnt set the alarm off.
everyday some warden person comes in to see if its locked again, but so far they'v not sent anyone to lock it in the last week. theres no way we'r going to lose this war!
after returning from a drunken night out my flatmate tried to unlock the one in the flat below us for them and cos he was drunk he totally broke the glass and we couldnt stop the alarm, eventually managed to wedge it off with a bottle top and loads of sellotape!
Hows the accomodation groupings decided at Southampton? Do they group people by sex or by subject or just mix everybody together?
Reply 99
My teacher told me that when you apply for accommodation at uni you could specify on the application what kind of people you would prefer to live with - e.g. loud and lively, or quiet, etc... but on the Southampton application they didn't have that?!
