Does this mean we have to take out Chinese Star and bombard the forum with characters?

Hmm. Actually, I don't get along with Chinese Star at all, ping yin will have to do Jing tian de tian qi hen hao?

Note: This is not an excuse for all the forumites who can actually speak Chinese to come on and criticise Min and mine's great abilities in Chinese. We're trying very hard, you know! Especially the ones actually in China. Gah! Or the ones who've just migrated out.
Oh how easy would be be in everything in chinese was written in ping ying?
Yes, today's weather is nice, unfort I'm stuck inside doing an economics essay.

Because if he's in china and studying for exams in american english, then it would make sense for him to pick up the american vocab.

Well, the base language is the same, so learning british english initially would work, moving on to american english to give a rounded language.

That's a point, he's quite fluent though. I always have respect for people who can actually write other languages, possibly because I'm so awful myself.

No idea, I do remember my pen friend from china ages ago using quite peculiar american vocab. Have a faint memory of my mum telling me the chinese exam system was very much like the american SATs system, could be poss. Anyone actually know?

well, more rounded for an american, but more debased for us, so yes.
