How lenient were your Unis on results day?

Just finishing up my A Level exams and I have an offer from Manchester for Politics and IR, they want AAB and my insurance being Queen Mary who want ABB/AAC. I'm feeling confident with the exams I've done but I wanted to know of unis are lenient on results day, if you miss one grade do they still give you a place? I know the leniency is different for different unis but just wanted to know if anyone has missed their grade offer by a tiny bit and got in.

Thanks!
This year will be more lenient as there are less (or no) restrictions on the amount of students available to take one course. It is always the decision of the university, however.

I'm afraid that makes little to no difference to most universities behaviour.

Do not assume more leniency. A number of large universities over-recruited in 2014 and will be looking to be stricter this year to manage their numbers.
