Normally, sixth form interviews are informal and normally are just consist of a chat to a staff member about your choices [that is, unless it is a compettive sixth form]. I would advise wearing smart casual... you can't really go wrong there. Good luck

They'll probably ask you a couple of things such as what's your favourite subject, why you want to study the subjects you've chosen, what you want to do at uni/careers-wise. They might also ask you a few academic questions on the subjects you've chosen - e.g. if you want to do French A-level they might ask you a few questions in French, if you're doing Maths maybe a Maths problem or two, etc. Nothing to be worried about really.

Obviously you should be punctual and it wouldn't hurt to be a bit early, but 35 minutes seems rather excessive! You'd be so bored just standing around doing nothing for all that time. Unless there's any particular reason for wanting to get there so early, I'd aim for around 8.25 instead. School uniform would be fine, otherwise smart casual. You'll probably just be asked why you want to do your chosen subjects, if you have any plans regarding uni and careers, why you've chosen that sixth form and your hobbies and interests. Unless they already know them, they might ask about your target/predicted grades as well, or perhaps what grades you're personally aiming for. You really don't need to do any preparation. Sixth form interviews are no big deal, more like a chat than anything else.

If its on a school day and you're going to school afterwards then school uniform is ok. Otherwise go for smart casual.

When I went for a Sixth Form interview [at a school I chose not to go to in the end!] I just wore my school uniform as it was plain black & quite smart looking. Otherwise if you don't want to wear your uniform, then I agree with the other posters and think you should just dress smart/casual.

Good luck!!

I found mine to be completely pointless. My interview was with the head of science. (A subject I have no interest in.) She spent about 15 minutes trying to convince me to re-sit science rather than let me choose what I wanted to do. She didn't know anything about the subjects I had chosen other than what was in the prospectus. This resulted in me having to drop the lesson I was most looking forward to - media studies - because it wasn't on what I wanted to do. It was the moving images course which doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I just dressed casually. It's not a posh sixth form and I had been going there since 2001 so I had more chance of getting in than anyone else plus my GCSEs were good enough for what I needed. After that I just had to sort out the EMA, what was suitable to wear for the sixth form and sign an agreement. The interview itself was a complete waste of time but the rest of it was actually worth doing.

Good luck!

Do colleges accept a certain amount? Does a conditional offer mean you are accepted into the college however your options aren't secured until GCSEs?
