Go to the Doctors mate. Or phone NHS direct if you can't get an appointment soon enough.

Piles are haemorrhoids - i.e. damaged blood vessels around the anus - Google them but I wouldn't look at the images unless you're really interested! They're not likely to be serious at your age (which I'm assuming is around 15-25) but it could be something worse, I really think you should see the doc as soon as possible. Piles is the best possible thing it can be when there's blood in your stool. Seriously. Go to your GP on Monday. If you carry on bleeding (and if there's a lot of blood) I'd advise calling NHS Direct today.

it doesnt seem to be bleeding any more, but i dont poo very often and my boyfriend thought it could just be like that because of that.

Are you constipated at all?

Reply 7

If its bright red and only occurs when you use the toilet its probably just a fissure or piles. I'd still see the doctor to make sure though.

Reply 8

I would as well, there are some bad things I believe that it could be if you poo blood...

piles

if your poo was really hard, you could have cracked the skin around your anus. But I'd still go to the dox to get it checked out.

Okay, I am by no means a doctor, and I advise you to go and see one urgently. But from my (very) limited knowledge, I'm pretty sure that:

- Bright red blood is not that serious - likely to be a crack or piles or something.
- Darker blood may be a bit more of a problem - if it's brown or black it may be an indication of something a bit more serious.

But if you're worried, go to a doctor.

Don't be, they'll have seen worse. That's what they're there for, after all! Bodily functions are all part of their jobs!
