Sti?

Hello, my current boyfriend was talking about STIs today after he found out about something that went on with my Ex. He knows a lot of stories about my Ex's past and there is a definite possibility he could have an STI considering what he has been up to. However there is no substantial evidence or knowledge of this. But made me wonder if I could have one too... but we never actually slept together so surely not? Also read that chlamidea etc. is treated by antibiotics and I had a week long course of antibiotics for something else anyway. I have no plans to visit doctor, just wondered people's realistic views on this situation.

Thanks.

The fact you had antibiotics for something else doesn't affect whether or not you have chlamydia. It sounds unlikely that you would have anything, but it would be a good idea to get checked if your worried, especially if you don't know about your ex's sexual history. Its free and really not as scary as you might think, might just put your mind at ease:smile:

How exactly would you go about doing that?
make an appointment with a GU clinic - I have done that, had a 2 month wait though :frown:

You can go to your doctors or a GUM/family planning clinic, or brook if you are 19 or under, but brook only do chlamydia testing. I am surprised the above poster had to wait 2 months!
How the hell would you get chlamydia, or any other STD, without even having slept together? The only ones I can realistically think of are AIDS, if you shared needles or something, or herpes if you gave him oral/he gave you oral with a cold sore. Other than that I think you're being insane to worry.

If you never slept together then no!

If you had unprotected oral sex, there are a small amount of things you could have picked up thhat you might want to get checked out, although I'm not sure if they would be transmittable to your current bf.

Well I phoned the local GU Clinic in December, and the first available appointment was February 2nd, so I was also surprised at the legnth as I had never been to one of these places before and the waiting is a killer, won't be long now though I suppose.

I think it depends on where you live, perhaps how many clincs you have nearby - I stay in the biggest town in Scotland, and their is one, so that says it all really.

OP - hope you manage to get things sorted, it's always better to be safe than sorry, if in doubt get it checked out and you will feel a lot better for it
