Be proactive, if you're doctor's not a dermatologist, you're never gonna get rid of it til you're skin is old and leathery (around 26/7). Okay exaggeration, but you don't know how long it's going to last. My tutors sister went to a top Madrid dermatologist (and her skin has the same appearance as mine) who said she didn't have acne but allergies. She has cut out coffe, tea and chocolate and is alternatly cutting out a food type for 3 months to see which it is. Also eating a clove of garlic everyday. Already in the first month her skin (and mine cos I copied her) is sooo much clearer! And we've both been given acne medication and treatments for ages. Shows how much some doctors know!

Well that was a long tangent.

Give up all milk products - works marvellously. Am lazy to type everything up, but if you look through my back threads, you'll find one I made around July-ish that tells you everything

Just had a quick read and yes, it's got facts to back it up.

Get roaccutane, you'll have bad skin and lips for 6 months then after that never have to worry about acne again.

Believe me, the milk thing is loads better and less dangerous than something like accutane which to me was never worth the risk and side effects.

yeah i totaly agree with that, ive found that even changing my diet i.e. eating more fruit etc and cutting out coffee, tea, chocolate nd greasy foods makes all the difference...i wuldnt say i have acne though but had spots ever since i was 12/13, not bad huge things or all over my face like some poepl i know but i have been on medication for acne ever since i had spots nd still get the occasional one or two commin up but its not that bad..im currently on minocyclin which seesm to be working but if your 21 nd had acne since 12/13 your shulda went nd seen a dermatologist ages ago :s-smilie:

If you are female, ask to try Dianette. It works wonders, it really is fantastic! Ive been on it for about 5 months now and only had like 2 spots recently, whereas before I was covered in them!!

If you're male then go back to your GP- or see a different one- and ask for something to put on your skin. Keep going back until they listen, sometimes it takes perserverance as some GPs are really old fashioned about acne in my experience!!!

You can't just go on roaccutane as simply as that. It's worth trying antibiotics and creams like others have suggested. Also why not try changing your diet, this might not do anything in some cases, but it is worth a try. I've heard that drinking a spoonful of cod liver oil in juice once a morning can be effective, since it contains a rich source of vitamin A (which accutane is derived from, hence why is dangerous to take cod liver oil whilst on accutane). Don't expect effects to happen immediately, give it a month or so. Of course, the right course of action depends on how severe your acne is and its risk of scarring.

TBH, from what I recall your acne wasn't even bad at all, almost un-noticable. There wasn't any reason to consider roaccutane. But of course, it could have gotten worse...

That was a photoshopped pic you saw, mine was really bad, in all honesty - and now I pretty much just get one spot a month when it's that time of month - which is amazing

Yeah i'll back that up. I'm on my fifth month too, and although my skin's not perfect, it's looking a lot better than it has done for a while

Cutting out dairy products and taking zinc supplements has really worked for me. And I had bad spots
