weird lines in vision

well the thread title says it all really, for about 6 months or so now ive had squiggly black lines in my vision, especially if its bright or im reading or looking at a piece of plane paper. they dont exactly stop me seeing anything but there really annoying, and the never stay still - so if you try to look directly at them they move away. i have been to an optician but he couldnt see anything wrong with my eyes. any suggestions? thanks

erm.. go to the opticians if it's annoying you. It could be something serious maybe?

I had lines when I had a thing called a Drome or something on my retina... had to have it lasered out a few years back.

Ouch....did that hurt?!! :s-smilie:

If you keep getting the problem then go back to your optician (try a different one if you have to) and see your GP.

I experience something that sounds similar. For me it usually occurs when im tired or if i have been putting my eyes under a lot of strain i.e. reading in bad light, watching a monitor or TV for hours on end. For me these fuzzy lines occasionally led to bad headaches. Best remedy ive found is just taking a break, give your eyes a rest, take a nap, go do something that doesnt involve focusing hard with your eyes. Aspirin sometimes helps if its really bad.
Hope this helps,

Sounds like floaters to me (and no I don't mean what you're probably thinking!) :

yeh floaters (hehe) sounds exactly like them, cool thanks. doesnt stop them being any less annoying tho!

yeah they are annoying, my optician told me to ignore them and your brain kind of erases them from your vision, which seems to be true as i hardly notice them at all now.

Yeah. Most of the time, you don't see them. But I can see them if I try to see them, and also looking at bright sky, lights, or pieces of paper. It IS annoying but not much you can do but NOT think about them (and therefore forget about them and not see them)!

Yeah floaters are annoying. Should they be black though?

Reply 9

Perhaps if they're very thin ones they can look black?

they do look black, but the shape of them and stuff is exactly the same as the picture on wikipedia, so i guess its the same thing

Don't stare for too long, or else you'll fall through the cracks.
