Talking to yourself

I realised today that I actually do this all the time. I don't have full blown conversations with myself, what I say is usually quite random. Like when I'm reading something I'll might just repeat a word or comment about it aloud. Or when I'm thinking about something or a conversation I'll say a reply out loud. Which led me to wondering if people ever hear me do this, and if so, do they think I'm weird? Anyone else do this?

Yes other people do it.

Yes other people do it.

Thanks for that, but I was a little interested in the frequency people do it and a little more detail.

Another thing is that I very often repeat what I read / see in a foreign language, is this common?

i.e. I read/hear it in English, and repeat it in a foreign language.
Not experience that But with signs, my brother always has to say them out loud.

I talk to myself quite a lot. usually when I'm walking. Somtimes I don't notice it's happening, other times its more concious, often helps to clarify something in my mind.
i sometimes do that...i usually wake up with someone's name in my head who i don't know or i can't remember where i've heard it/read it and i can't help saying it to myself.

i have full blown conversations with myself all the time if im bored and on my own i think aloud if i have something on my mind so i can try and get it out of my mind without someone judging me or talking over me, talk to myself and none can argue with me then lol thats my view. i couldn't go a whole day without talking to someone even if it includes myself, im not mad
I talk to myself quite a bit. Sometimes it's so as to remember a sequence of events that I set out to do or have to do, other times it's when I'm working talking about the calculations, order of method or my ideas and thoughts, other times when I'm grumbly or annoyed, other times when I'm practising my languages, other times when I correct myself or have a debate of views with myself- like writing an analytical essay but me all saying it, or other times when I'm really lonely and down and want to talk about what I like and am interested in or try to do with no interruptions, stops or disagreements from anyone else apart from me. I am not schizoprenic if anyone here thinks so.

your not alone - I talk to myself especially when I am doing something and thinking about what I am doing.

Family quite often ask me if there is one of my friends in my room with me when there isn't. :s-smilie:

Sort of. When I'm talking to someone, I don't really listen as their opinions are clearly not as valuable as mine.

yeah i sometimes talk to myself too. especially when im at home alone and i feel lonely:smile: although i must admit i do it quite rarely and usually its just muttering under my breath that no one can really hear (or so i hope:smile:). but its a great feeling im not the only freak out there:biggrin:

I talk to my self but not in a crazy sort of way. I have two kind of conversations. 1 where my mind tells me to do stupid things or the opposite of what i would normally do. Like punch someone. Then there is the other moments when i have a doubt. My mind tells me to do either the right thing or just go along with it.

Of course at the end of the day. I know that I am talking to my self. I control the conversation. I'm not crazy or anything.
I DO IT A lot so dont be worried.
I always talk to myself. Its the only way I know someone is actually listening
"It's ok to talk to yourself, just as long as you listen."
And yeah I do it; which makes my "mates" think I'm weird .

Yeah I do it too, often I just come out with random phrases that come up in some imaginary scenario in my head. Dunno why. I also randomly come out with bits of other languages and sometimes have conversations with myself in them, but that's to be expected since I'm a languages geek. :p:
