I'm in exactly the same position (got the same offer for law etc..)

Totally set on going to Leeds though.. :frown:

I dunno how tough they are on meeting the conditions, I guess it depends on number of applicants etc.. but I guess the only thing we can do is work hard and be positive!

Hopefully we'll be classmates next year  hehe

I got in with ABC when they asked for ABB, but that was for maths, and law is a lot harder to get into with more people applying.
I got an offer of BBC (one B being French) for doing French/TESOL

I got BCC (the B being French), and they accepted that.

I have a BB offer for English & Japanese (having already got A in English Lit A level). I am predicted AB in my current A2s so really it shouldn't be a problem to get BB...but I am slightly worried I'll end up with an A and a C.

Does anyone know whether Leeds would still accept me if I got AC instead of BB? Seeing as the A would be in French (language=more relevant to my course) and the C in Music?

Sorry if this is all a bit confusing!

It's not law but I applied for Philosophy with an offer of BBB. I got BBC in the end and Philosophy didn'y want me but the Theology dept offered me a place instead as I got B in RS. Obv Law would be different as it's very competitive. Could you not email the dept? No harm in asking!

Hello there,

Not to sound pesimistic or anything but I was just wondering who actually got into Leeds Uni without achieving their required offer?

I myself have been given an offer of AAA for Law (LLB) 2007 and am obviously a bit worried about not achieving this.

Are they strict/generous on results day?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

hey dont wanna make u feel bad but i spoke with the main law admissions tutor and she told me that this year theyve seen a significant rise in applicants. of course it will matter more how many of these people put leeds down as their firm (or even insurance) though. it would be best to phone them just before you have to put down your firm and insurance to ask them how many people have already accepted and whether they think there'd be any hope in getting in if you miss a grade.

Thank you for the above^^

Yeah its definently a great uni... I suppose we will just have to work hard to achieve our offers!

Its an interesting thread - I think it would be useful for prospective students like me to here any more accepted lower offers/comments from current Leeds students, so feel free to keep posting etc....

Thanks again!

Im studying at Leeds this year, i got an offer of ABB and got accepted with BBC.
Im studying Geography, but when i looked round they assured me they were extremely strict on grades.
It seems its not always the case...

Good luck.

I had an offer of BBB, I got BBC and was given a place for the next year (although there were exceptional circumstances in my case).

Law seems alright at the university (I've done a bit there) but over-subscribed so if you slip your grades i'm afraid your optimism may be falsely held as far as what i'm doing (Business school) it's a bit of a joke considering i'm third year, hardly work and manage to get by, never really been challenged, i've got 2 days off a week and no dissertation. I'm not even taking Economics and i'm on an Economics degree and i haven't even started uni yet for the day :p:

Should have gone to Manchester instead.
I think, to sum up, we could say this:

Yes, many of the courses you will be accepted on with lower grades, BUT popular courses, such as Law, Chemistry, Physics, French etc etc may actually need you to get the grades you've been quoted by the admissions tutor.

That said, if you don't get your grades and don't automatically get offered a place here, by all means ring up the department on results day and plead your case!

I agree with everything that was said. But, if they ask for certain GCSE grades they'll be looking at those too. And of course, your PS. So don't lose hope completely. Psychology is one of the popular courses and they still accepted people with one grade lower (as long as the A was in Psychology I think).
I'm in my first year of Medicine, one of the most competitive courses offered by the Uni (except maybe Law); with an offer of AAB, i got ABB, and still got in - and I'm not the only one. They were high B's, admitted, but still, I think it goes to show - it's bound to change.

I know ... still, anything can happen  thank goodness it did!
I do BSc Geological Sciences.
They asked for a B in Geology, a C in AS Environmental Science and a B in Chemistry. I got an E in Chemistry and made the required grades in the other 2 and they accepted me.

Well some of these are quite refreshing and... less scary to hear. I have been accepted to do French, but I need BBB... I really don't think I'm going to get it (it's a case of a goddamn TERRIBLE psychology teacher and not actually having learnt unit 5 yet...oh yes) So I think the MAX I will get in that is a C... so I'm really working to get my english lit or french up to an A... I really hope that's good enough! :frown:

How do you actually find out if you got in on results day?

hey im doing law at the uni and ws offered aaa and was lucky enough to obtain thsoe grades but i do know of people who have gotten in with aab. Also, you are at an advantage if you live in the yorkshire area such as bradford as u can apply to a scheme which actually lowers your grades if u write 2 really impressive essays. Unfortunately I cannot remember what the scheme is called atm.

This might sound stupid but what happens when I get my results from UNI ??

Im in lincoln at the moment so assume leeds will have no way to see my grades, do i just phone up when i know my final year grade?

Hopefully I can make a plead as Im not expected to get 70%+ on my first year here due to some 'random' units taking up 48 CATS points (flash/video production on a computing course  ).

I should hopefully get a lowish 60 or maybe even a high 50 , which is very annoying considering all the work I put into my video work. Im just not built with the creative side of the brain :frown:
Same here.... Law offer with AAA, accepted it as my firm. Just hope we all get the grades now  Good luck
