I applied for Accounting at several universities and have received 5 offers so far. As I am not sure which uni will be the best one for me, I decided to try to value each university to some extent. As up to date most of the comments on "finding out the best univerisity" have been rather unscienticfic, I will try to approach this topic by using a decision matrix. The decision matrix is quite common in business administration and works very simply. YOu basically identify the different alternatives (in this case the different universities) and identify the different criterias that influence your decision. The criterias will be then weighted depending on their (subjective) importance and the alternatives will be rated for each criteria. Then the rating will be multiplied with the weighting and the university which has the highest total score will be "the best unversity" for oneself.
I thought about the following criterias for an Accounting degree. I would weight each criteria between 1 and 5 points. 5 points would be vey important, whereas 1 point would mean a rather unimportant criteria
Weight
Grade requirements 4
Times+Guardian overall University ranking 2
Times+Guardian Economics ranking 2
General reputation 4
Employment rate 5
Sylabus content 4
ACA+CIMA Exemptions 3
Location 3
Cost of living 2
Which other criterias would you regard as important and how would you weight them? Would you weight any of the mentioned criterias differently? Any input is appreciated
