Dry Throat, even when Drinking?

It's weird, a few weeks before New Years, i was able to drink alcohol fine, and the same with drinking coca cola. But since New Years, i havn't been able to drink any of them, without getting the worst dry throat, and even drinking water makes it worse.

Anyone know what this might be? I know it sounds a bit stupid asking here, but was wondering if anyone else has the same problem?

Often the same with Red Bull, drys my throat out.

Even just one can of coke seems to give me the worse dry throat.

I know this sounds dumb, asked so many people, and they havn't a clue what it could be!?

sorry to hijack your thread but;

i have a constant sore throat because I take complaints over the phone at work which means all I do all day is have constant arguments. today i timed that the longest i got to stop talking for was 5 mins. by the end of the day i find it hard to talk even if i drink loads of water all day, any ideas what i can do to stop it hurting so much?

Do you smoke?

Yes.
stopping might help...certainly i nthe short term
.Andrew.
Yes.

Cigarettes immobilise your cilia, which stops the smooth movement of mucus down your throat. When you drink something it washes all the mucus away, and Alcohol is a strong drying agent so it will have the largest effect. You're probably smoking quite alot for this to happen.

Ahh, i smoke 2 a day, but i suppose that could still have an effect.

Been to the doctors, it's nothing serious, i just need to drink less crap like Coke and start drinking more water, and said it should clear up within a few days.

Also, giving up Alcohol he said would help alot, same with smoking. So they have both been stopped.
