Lust for valadation?

I'm not ugly or majorly fat, though I'm nearly 10st I am a size 10 (5ft6) but I feel terrible about myself..I just feel so fat and clothes shopping last weekend wasn't even fun for the first time ever, even though I had loads of money to spend :frown:
For the past 2 days, this is day 3, i've been aiming to eat 1200calories a day and I'm ok, havn't gone over to more than 1600 and I reckon I should be 8 and a half stone by the end of aprill and I'm going to start excercise as of next week.
Well my problem is I just feel really bad at the moment, really crap and I don't know the point of this post, I'm just ... meh ...

:hugs: why do you feel like this though? You shouldn't feel terrible about yourself at all. If I were you I would constrain myself to the whole calorie counting but cutting out food thats bad for you like chocolate and sweets and replacing it with fruit and what not. That'll help you lose weight by cutting out things which have no nutricious content then it can help weight loss  and for the exercising do some but do something you enjoy and vary it. Maybe take a dance class or something one day or go swimming and get someone else to join in with you as well it'll keep you to it and it can be more fun.

Lastly I could recommend you to gave a night in with friends and use that time to destress and get yourself in the right frame of mind and help you feel better about yourself

hmmmm well then maybe if you have family or cousins could go but I really do think that you should treat yourself because you seem quite depressed and it's not a nice feeling, it really isn't :hugs: but do, do something with your friends. Organise a girls night out maybe and go somewhere. Think of something that'll lift your spirits

If you feel fat but know that you aren't, then exercise can really help. Yyou get a good sweat on, it relieves stress, and afterwards it makes you feel fit. So perhaps a few miles on the running machine could cure your negative body image.

I'm 5' 6 and I'm 10 stone but I'm a 12/14! How come you're so much thinner when we're the same weight?
It's all about what you're communicating to yourself. If you say you're fat, you are.

You sound exactly like me.. only I'm usually a size 12 :frown:

Sorry about the lack of advice, if I knew how you could feel better about yourself then I'd probably be doing the same.
And if you yourself have declared you are fat - Why not take immediate action to get rid of this state labelled fat?

She is. It's harder getting rid of the thoughts than the weight.

To the OP- Its normal to feel crap at the start of something like this. But when the weight starts to drop off it will give you a real boost!

If you say it's harder, It is.

She's taking action - but why does she feel bad then? Knowing she's doing everything in her power (which some people do not) to remedy her problem?

From my experience it's wanting things to change instantly and knowing the time in which it'll take.

Her fault for expecting something improbable.. Set your expectations to something obtainable or better yet, don't have any expectations at all. Then when the change occurs you'll be twice as happy.

I think it's a probably natural thing for some people to want things instantly. I'm a perfectionist so I know that's why I do things like that. I think her goal of April is pretty good.

OP I think this is really good advice right here. You're not medically overweight so shouldn't be looking to drop more than half a stone max. To be honest if I were you I wouldn't be looking to lose weight, but to feel stronger, both mentally and physically. If you're feeling down about your body then restricting your calorie intake so harshly will just make you feel weak, sick and faint and then you're going to feel worse about the whole thing. You are also likely to get into the frame of mind where you feel so deprived that a binge is inevitable and then you'll really get into a destructive cycle. Instead of automatically considering calories when you choose your meals, think instead about how nourishing the food is, and whether you will be getting enough of the major food groups that day. Obviously don't just go to town and stuff your face but eating should be enjoyable - no one likes living on rabbit food. Choose your five portions of fruit and veg carefully so that getting it all down doesn't feel like a chore; I recommend strawberries, peaches, mangoes, pineapples, pears and plums as they're all juicy and sweet and can be eaten instead of a sugary dessert. For veg, try roasting parsnips and carrots in a little olive oil, which feels indulgent but really isn't as you're getting the vitamins, minerals and fibre and also the monounsaturated fat which will lower your cholesterol and is really good for your skin, hair and nails. You can also get those fats from low-fat mayonnaise, oily fish or a handful of nuts (the edible kind  ). Make sure you have some form of dairy product every day, too - Muller light yoghurts have an almost negligible amount of fat and are really yummy, or you can just drink skimmed milk or have a bit of low fat soft cheese on bread, all of which will give you your calcium. Keep up your carb intake with wholegrain breads, pasta and cereals and perhaps most importantly, eat some form of protein every day - the best for healthy weight loss or maintenance are skinless chicken and white fish. See all these foods as useful in making your body better at doing its job. Instead of thinking about junk food as forbidden, try and view it as simply useless to your body. Chocolate and crisps etc have little nutritional value and are just a waste of time and effort required to digest them. If you really are having a chocolate craving then instead of gulping down a kitkat, have a few squares of really good quality dark chocolate, which will at least have fewer milk solids and will give you a boost of antioxidants. Lastly and possibly most importantly, do some exercise every day. I know from experience that at first this will seem like a drag but after a while you will come to love the feeling afterwards. A good sweat will clear out your skin, and by getting your heart pounding you will improve the circulation to all areas of your body. Seeing an improvement in your muscle tone and feeling fitter will also contribute to a better body image. You must increase your calorie intake to at least 1800 daily if you are burning off more than 300 calories in exercise though, otherwise you will feel dizzy and could damage your heart. I hope this helps and you feel better about yourself soon.
