Applied for Law 2009, feeling distinctly queasy as I have just discovered the first Law interviews have started appearing from other colleges...

Good luck all potential Corpuscles!

Just got my rejection letter. Guess it's time to get the beautiful Corpus out of my head!

Aww, sorry to hear that! *hug*

Are there any other nervous interviewees out there? I haven't found any except myself and Katy so far, I'm beginning to think it's just the two of us...:shifty:

History and Politics, received my letter today. So nervous! I'm crap at pool so I can see the social side of the interview season collapsing. Its gonna be weird...we are all going to be in competition with each other.

To be honnest, that part hasn't hit me yet. It is so unlikely that I'll get in, my Mum describes it as a lottery, so I don't think there's much point in thinkign like that. Plus, it would be a lonely 3 days!

I'm sure I'll change my mind when I realise I'm the only one who went to the local comp or something lol

Ah, but we're doing different courses, so technically we're not in competition!

The way I see it, we get to stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world for a few days, meet a group of peers who are as mad as we are, speak to some tutor-type people who live and breathe the subject we passionately want to study, and get to be in for a chance at doing this full time next year. Obviously I'm doing prep for my interviews (and more than a little bit terrified!), but I want to try and enjoy the whole experience rather than obsess about the hour or so in total out of 5 days that I will spend actually in an interview.

Well, that's the plan! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Sorry to double post, but does anyone know the best way to get to Corpus from the station? I'll be arriving at Oxford train station at about 5.30 on a Tues evening, and thought it would prob be best to get a taxi. Is there an obvious taxi rank at the station, and how much will it cost approximately?

Thanks!

Unless you've got a ridiculous amount of gear you won't need a cab (no idea how much a cab would cost anyway).

As for directions, look at this map:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&jsv=138f&sll=51.754267,-1.262398&sspn=0.011158,0.027637&ie=UTF8&geocode=FfewFQMdkqvs_w

The station is marked, and you want to get to Merton Street. I'd go down Hythe Bridge Street, then George Street, then turn right into Cornmarket, then turn left onto High Street. 15 minute walk.

I think it's about a fiver for a taxi (and the taxi rank is obvious - it's right outside the station exit, just across the road). However, it's a pretty short walk, so unless you're carrying too much to move, then you should be fine, although I guess it'd be completely dark (shouldn't be a safety issue, but it might be harder to find your way around).

applying for history, so I'll probably see you there... don't worry, I promise I'll be worse at pool! I'm sort of looking forward to it since I'm certain I'm not getting in, so it'll be my only opportunity to stay in the college...

Thank you to those who gave me taxi info! Ta, much appreciated!

I won't have a ridiculous amount of luggage or anything, I just thought that when arriving by myself in the early evening it will probably be less stress for me just to get in a taxi, rather than faff about trying to get a bus or walk there. Plus, I have a teensy weenst irrational fear of the dark, , which makes being outside after 4pm in the winter a tad problematic...

Well, it's your money I guess. But given how ridiculous Oxford is for cars, it'd probably be just as easy to walk as get a taxi. That said, it's never gonna cost you more than a tenner, so your call I guess.

Yay, I know someone already. Your profile tells me you live in Leeds, so presumably you'll be arriving the day before? I'm from London so it's a nice early train ride for me...
