Christ Church Meadow was given to the then St Frideswide's Abbey[now the Cathedral at Christ Church] by a very distant relative of mine, Lady Elizabeth de Montfort[d.1354], who is buried in a noteworthy tomb in the Cathedral. She gave the land so that a mass would be said daily for her. Perhaps it is another garden which was won in some sort of college competition.
Corpus Christi is lovelyand was high on my list of choices.

This = Interesting.

Clearly I was mistaken!

Just got an interview invitation for English at Corpus. Could anyone tell me what the fellows are like and what English at corpus is like generally?
Hi! I've got an interview at Corpus too, but for history & English. If you go on the Corpus website (ccc.ac.uk I think - pretty sure that's it but if not you can just find it on the Oxford website under Colleges obviously) you can find the profiles of the tutors/fellows. So far I've seen two English tutors at Corpus on there, one specializing in medieval/early modern English and the other in Victorian, modern, and post-modern. I expect English at Corpus generally would be a lot like English elsewhere, as you can still pick whatever modules you like and thus would learn hypothetically the same stuff (though obviously who your tutor is affects how and what you learn). Hope that helps and best of luck with your interviews! How are you preparing?

Hey I'm seriously considering law at Corpus Christi!
Can anyone shed light on what the interview is like?

I visited corpus when I was in oxford for the UNIQ summer school... I loved how small it was, how beautiful it looked. What's it like being there? Is it quite competitive to get in? And is there a good balance if state/private schooled students?

Hello I'm an IB student and I reached my offer about two months ago and have heard precisely nothing from Corpus, except for an email saying I didn't need to do anything until A level results day. I am wondering when it would be advisable to arrive at the college because although term seems to start in early October I have heard mutterings about a "freshers fortnight" and I am not sure whether this is reality or wishful thinking. Clarification and impact on suggested arrival time would be appreciated :smile:

Thank you

Don't worry about not hearing from them - colleges tend to send out admin things at the same time to save hassle. I'm not sure about the exact date you'll arrive (it depends on the college, and whether you're international or not) but it's definitely not a freshers fortnight at Oxford! You'll probably have to arrive on the 5th/6th/7th of October, which is '0th week' of Michaelmas, or freshers week. (You'll get used to it, it's what we call the weeks of term, the next week is 1st week, the first of 8 weeks of term). I'm sure you'll be told the exact date either on Thursday or a few days after.

Hi there! Looking at Corpus for PPE in 2015, could anyone tell me what the tutors/fellows are like as well as what life at Corpus is like for PPE-ers in general? :-)
As inactive as this thread is, Corpuscles are lovely and you can always PM me at least if you've got a question :-)
Hey! Is there any Materials Science student on the forum, who could tell me what it's like to study MS at Corpus? I am trying to make my college choice for this year and I'd like to hear from someone who could tell me a little about the tutorial side of the course, PM or forum.

Sweetness.. another mathmo. I'm in my first year doing Maths at Corpus so if you're a prospective mathmo you can ask as specific question as you like; otherwise, I'm afraid my answers will be limited.
