How does 'Non-Medical Helper'/Personal scribe work?

Hi,

I'm going into my second year of Uni and will be applying for DSA, but does anyone here have experience with the personal scribe?

How does the notetaking work? (I take a module that has maths in it, do the logistics become complicated because of that?)

In the most extreme cases, does the helper go to every single lecture and how does communication between you and the helper largely work?

Thank you.

I dont have one myself(thought about it but sticking to use my dictaphone,i can just about cope with type comfortably in lecutres) but as i ve understood you agree a format for them to write your notes in for you and yes if necessary they ll go to all your lectures.
I found this on a dsa suppliers website: A notetaker will produce a manual, legible and accurate set of notes from the student’s lectures / seminars in the preferred format and style of the student. Notes can be transcribed into electronic format where appropriate."
Hope that helps
there are many times of non medical helper so in some cases potentially you could also be eligible for a 1:1 specialist study skills tutor, depeding on how your disability effects you.
I've had a scribe. Because I have difficulties reading, my scribe would also help me with that. They'd go to every lecture and seminar with me.
