Statistical analysis of Likert-Scale

Hi everyone,

After a day and a half of attempting to understand this on my own, I'm going to see if anyone can help me out!

I have carried out a survey looking into whether the symptom level patients experience is related to the frequency with which they eat particular foods.

So I can split the data into symptom level groups:

No symptoms
Mild symptoms
Moderate symptoms
Severe symptoms

and I want to know if the symptom level is significantly related to the frequency with which they consume foods:

Food 1 (Frequency: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7+ times a week)
Food 2 (Frequency as above)
Food 3 (Frequency as above)
Food 4 (Frequency as above)
Food 5 (Frequency as above)

etc...

What statistical test would I use for this? I'm working with SPSS.

Can I test them all together or do I need to use a separate test for each one?

I have no idea where to start!!!
