Difficulty in Reading Someone - Help?

Hi Guys,

Basically, i'm trying to make sense of a text message from this girl i kinda like. It's perhaps best if i just put it in the way it was sent to me:

1) I was out with her and a few mates a night or so ago, towards the end i said i kinda liker her, got her number and pretty much left it at that. She thought i was pissed (i don't drink enought to get pissed these days) and when i got back i basically text her to just re-affirm what i said and just exchange pleasantaries. she replied back and said that she'd text me next day.

2) Next day comes and i get a text which is a knockback: ' i think you're a nice lad, but i'm not looking for anything serious'. That's fine i thought,i text her back, said no worries etc and catch her soon. She then replied back with 'yeah definitely give us a bell when your next out sometime'. I didn't reply to that.

3) Now a few hours later she texts me again: 'hey just fort u fancy goin for a drink sometime this week?' to which i replied; 'yeah that'd be cool - when do you fancy?'. I've left it at that, she replied back suggesting friday but i'm trying to work out what's going on...

Now she initially gives me the knockback, then asks if i fancy meeting with her for a drink - i'm confused

I don;t even know if she's meaning going out with friends, but i've briefly spoken to a flatmate of hers (he'd be likely to be out with us) and he hasn't been told.

Advice on how i should reply to her text, as i'd just like to know where i stand???

Text her back and say Friday is fine if you're free then. It seems a bit early to be trying to figure out the way she feels so just relax and see what happens. Maybe she wants something casual, hence going for a drink together. Alternatively maybe she feels bad for knocking you back and wants to make sure things are ok with you two as friends and means it as a friendly drink. She might like you and wants to spend the time getting to know you before seeing if anything can develop.

Don't worry about it just yet and go see her and see what happens.

The knockback might not have been genuine. She may like you, but doesn't want to rush things and doesn't want you thinking that she is in need of "love". It could just have been her, slightly panicked(?), way of saying "lets take things very slowly, with no assumptions".

Meet up on Friday, see how things go. She will probably reveal her intentions, either verbaly or through her body language, on the night.

She may just like the attention. some girls crave attention and when they get it they don't want it so kind of knock you back and then miss the attention so reel it back in again.
