Yeah, I agree, but in terms of international fame, that list isn't a bad reflection. I can't judge on actual teaching/research/student quality at those universities, since I've only visited a handful of them.

I got bored, so I added up all the votes from the people who chose 10 British universities: Morgan, rah, KR2004, kingslaw, Pencil Queen, jumpunderaboat, Dr. Blazed, dled, gangrene, BazTheMoney, mobbdeeprob, happysunshine, mg84, Leeroy, deianra (I used your second vote), Tek, Woggle, master_chief, H&E, tomhitchings, hornblower, etomac, need_help, James_W, Absolution, swallows, amazingtrade, Bigcnee, elpollodiablouk, Mysticmin, Leekey, Baby_Angelz, covered_farm_wa, Squishy.

    The results so far are:

    1. Cambridge (263.5)
    2. Oxford (236)
    3. Imperial (174)
    4. LSE (172)
    5. Warwick (158)
    6. Bristol (106.5)
    7. UCL (88)
    8. Nottingham (77)
    9. Durham (61)
    10. Manchester/UMIST (60)
The Nottingham bias (from the many on here that go/are going there) is showing.

As is the Northern "lets barrack for Manchester even though it isn't great" bias.

It's in the process of being de-scandalized!!! Quite funny though how the campaign was started by engineers and benefitted computing students....I'm trying to get this sorted though!!!

Let's face it - they're both a damn site better than a certain scrubber institution, in a historic city - which doesn't even offer Law or specialise in the true sense of the word!

Tread carefully now, Bigcnee for I could be talking about York.

...Though as it happens, I'm talking about two places.

*waits for newbie to appear voting for Manchester and Southampton and not Durham*

I think negative voting should be allowed if we have a good enough reason to dislike the place, although I would probably vote for the uni's that didn't bother making finger sandwiches for thier open days (damn York)

I'd rather we did medicine, but there you go.

Manchester is grossly overrated just because Northerners are desperate for a half decent Uni.

Why don't Bath offer Law and Medicine? I know that York is planning a massive campus extension and will, in time, boast Law and Medicine faculties.

To be fair I've never really seen Bicnee go on a rant about the impotence of those who attend any other university than KCL or LSE. Isn't it wierd how different people on the forum have a dislike for certain places (see below)...

    Bicnee - Manchester
    Me - Durham, Warwick
    Gnostic - Everywhere but KCL
