    Hi,

    I'm doing route A at present (although, with that said, I won't be starting revision until later this month).

    I've already done module 4 (90/90), it is definetly the hardest module, but by far the most interesting; it introduced me to many areas of political science which I will probably now choose to focus on at uni.

    Conversly, Module 5 (the EU) sends me to sleep, it's just so boring!

    Unfortunetly, I think that Module 6 leans too much towards Europe than module 4, which is a shame, but it's nice to get a chance to write some long essays.

    What do you guys think?

    WOW, well done, only the best four people in my class got to do it in Jan, and the best of us got a C!
    How did you do it?
    I've been doing sooo many notes for it, have not even started learning notes yet.
    Unit four IS really interesting but there is just so much to do.
    do you have any past papers?
    I agree, it is really great that we get to do longer essays in unit 6 (after all those short ones!)
    M x

    Ps. how is everyone else doing in unit 4?

    I have never learnt as much as I did for Politics 4, for any other subject. And the worst thing was that I only used a fraction of it, I knew everything about Education and Health policy but never got to use it. I got a high score because I did well in the long essay, that's where it really matters. If you're good with the economy then specialise in it, because it's the most likely to come up. Northern Ireland is also a good place to pick up points from, it's not as complicated as people tend to think it is.

    You can't predict the short questions, sometimes they are really vague. I had a question on education, naturally I had revised about league tables and ofsted etc. But the question was on different exam systems (nothing to do with politics?!) so I just answered using basic knowledge, and got high marks. I think the examiners appreciate that you can't be expected to have so much depth of knowlegde.

    My final tip is that despite mod4 is meant to be 79-now, it nearly always foucuses on 97-> In fact, on my paper, basically every question was on New Labour governance, make sure you're up to date with what the government is up to!

    Best of luck, tom

    i do the same route and i thought it was just my teacher that seemed to overload us with notes! Also, it's constantly changing, which makes it interesting but you have to make sure you keep up to date.

    I've not really had much practise at unit 6. Does anyone have any past questions?

    Unit 6 is really similar to 5. It's meant to link 4 & 5 with 1,2 and 3; but it focusses more on 5. However, the UK-based questions are often really easy one's about economic management, or PM power. I think the thing you are most likely to be asked to talk about is the impact of EU membership on UK parties, it's come up twice already. I like that, as far as I'm concerned I could talk about the EU impact on the Tories without stopping, you should have loads of 'natural knowledge'.

    Best of luck, tom

    about 270........I need to get an average of 65% UMS (middle C) to get an A overall.

    Remember that...

    mod4=90
    mod5=100
