I studied the first year of a degree at Leeds Met and dropped out during the first year. I've just finished a foundation degree now and have put in my UCAS choices and got a firm offer from a uni for my top up. I swear I got told you could only get funding for starting two new courses thinking back on it now though so would I get funding for this top up as it would technically be starting a new course?

The normal deal is standard length of a degree course plus one year. So, you should get some funding at least, and if the top-up only takes two years you may well get funding for both years. You need to contact SFE and check as soon as you can -

Awesome thanks. The top up is only one year so I shouldn't go over the 4 years allowed. I've sent off my application but I'm going to ring them to double check tomorrow I'll post how I get on.

You should be OK, but definitely good idea to ring them. Good luck

A top up isn't actually a new course as such. (whereas you couldn't do a foundation degree and then get funding for another foundation dgeree) So, if you do a foundation degree and then want to top up to a full degree, you can (providing you'e not used up all your years funding - length of course +1 - previous years study) then top up your foundation degree to a full degree.
