CCEA GCSE students

hi just wondering if any of you are takin GCSE examinations on the ccea northern ireland examination board? how are you all finding them

Hi, I'm doing CCEA GCSE's and I have to say that the majority have been deadly, especially Biology Double Award and History Paper 1.

Maths, quite strangely, seemed a lot easier compared to all the past papers i have sat.

But I suppose it's hardly surprising that CCEA papers are so tough, Northern Irish students are the highest acheiving students in the UK, so they have to have some way of distinguishing between the A* students from the rest.

Did you sit CCEA English Paper 2?, and if you did, can you tell me if we were supposed to write our real names at the end of the letter in section B or not, because I did and my friend said I wasn't supposed to do that.

Can I be disqualified? And how would an examiner know your real name anyway? :confused:

I sat CCEA GCSEs last year and I'm doing CCEA AS-levlel's this year.

Have you done chemistry yet? My Chemistry teacher set that paper, he's cheif examiner, what did you think off it?

You aren't normally supposed to write your name on CCEA papers at all, incase your examiner ends up being your next door neighbour etc. But if it didn't specifically say not to, I shouldn't think it will matter.

On English boards they get you to write your full name on the front cover.

lol! Don't suppose there's any chance you could squeeze some info out of your teacher about what's on the exam?!

I really need to do well in Chem because I messed up my Biology :frown:

, and I'm expected to get double A* even though I have the crappest chem teacher ever (and then she went on maternity leave for 10months and was replaced by someone who i doubt even has a qualification to teach chemistry!!!)

I used to be an A* candidate in chemistry (wen i had a decent teach in yr10) but now I'm lucky if I get above 50%. Our Bio and Physics teachers have even noticed that my class is top of our year in bio and phys, but bottom of the year in chem. It took them long enough but they're finally startin to realise, somethin's not right about how we're being taught.

yep i sat all the exams you are talkin about. it doesnt matter if you put ur name at the end of the letter. what u think ofr the paper 2 english. i thot it was good.

i cant believe u thot maths was easy. it was the hardest maths test i ever sat in my life. did u get the hemisphere/cone question i got the first part as 18 but didnt have a clue bout the second part. history paper one was easy i thot and i was happy becoz i was really dreadin it and paper 2 cold war is tomorrow OMIGOD :eek:

i did chemistry 2day. it is my worst subject and i unsurprisingly knew very very little especially the last question lol. exams in general arent goin too bad especially maths. paper 2 is 2moro hopefully it will be an improvement on the first paper!!

English Paper 2, Section A was quite easy (tho i can't remember wot the hell it was about!) and section B about the cruises was just pure ballax.

Hav just done History Paper Two and holy cow was it difficult!!!

Lost loads of marks in the documents, and left half of it out! :frown:

Which essay did you do, I did the Korea one, but i forgot loads of points which i of course remembered as soon as the paper had been taken in!!!!! :rolleyes:

What subjects did you study for history paper one though?, we did Weimar Germany and the Troubles.

Maths was easy again, but then yours was probably difficult if you are higher tier (I do intermediate, coz i'm a bit slow when it comes to numbers).

Can't wait for 3.30 tomorrow coz then I'm finished all my exams and have 2 and a half month holiday! YAY!!! :biggrin:

i did korea aswell and like u, i forgot alot of points which i could have put into the 18 mark question but ah well. i thot the source questions on cuba were surprisingly ok seeing as i just looked at cuba before i walked into the exam!

for history paper one we did weimar germany and the troubles just like you did. our maths was ok i thot.

i have physics and french 2moro aswell but we are doing french on aqa so we only have a 50 minute reading exam and no writing exam becos we did courswork!! physics will be deadly i am terrible at it but im not worryin about it. life goes on. you are so lucky to have urs finished 2moro i have 3 more business studies exams after 2moro (were on aqa for them) and my exams dont officially end til 28th june :frown:

only CCEA exams im doing is my maths and french exam..... im mostly doin AQA and OCR but ive noticed my maths papers for CCEA are harder than AQA or any other boards....xoxo

my ccea exams so far have been dealy lol ive dont biology triple award and ict so far but i am dreadin the chemistry paper!! ccea is horrible!!!

my skool dont do resits and u need at least a c to go to tech even!!! but just keep thinkin method marks lol i am jus writin crap if i dunno wat to do surely ill get some marks 4 effort lol
