The Chancellor of the Exchequer is the government’s chief financial minister and as such is responsible for raising revenue through taxation or borrowing and for controlling public spending. He has overall responsibility for the work of the Treasury.

The Chancellor’s responsibilities cover:fiscal policy (including the presenting of the annual Budget)monetary policy, setting inflation targetsministerial arrangements (in his role as Second Lord of the Treasury)

He concerns himself with British economic and fiscal policy.

Officially 11 Downing St is his residence, but Osborne personally has opted to remain at his home in Notting Hill. But there's nothing to prevent him changing his mind and moving back in (although I believe Cameron has poached his residence!)

Haha, I imagine he cleared it with Osborne beforehand anyway as he wasn't using the space. I believe Blair and Brown did something similar.

Checks the economic state and GDP and rate of growth in comparison to a charted "agenda". Then makes amendments for the future Budget to be closer to this "agenda".

Cool, and since he's an MP, what would he have to do day to day for that role.

As chancellor he's busy going on trade missions abroad, going to the EU finance meetings, preparing reports, talking to other departments. Most cabinet ministers will only attend big votes.

Revue current policy, set new strategies.

It's a case of monitoring what's happened in the past, what's currently happening and assessing what's going to happen in the future.
