Don't worry. I always thought I looked older for my age... then suddenly everyone has been telling me I look younger. Great self-esteem booster. Doesn't help that my passport picture looks about 12 too, and it's going to have to last me ten years!
But I don't care anymore. Meh. If people judge you by your looks, they are stupid- "OMGZ you look well young!11!11" "Well you my dear, are a ****". Seriously, who cares?!

I look young for 17 also, but recently I felt that by getting some new clothes and getting myself ready nicely each morning it does feel for me that I look my age.:p:
Just think about it though when you're old you'll not look I dunno say 70 but late 60s or something like that if you get me:p: well that's what my friends tell me!
I'm sure you won't be the only person looking pretty young at Uni!, I will as well!:p:

It is so annoying looking young. I am 17 and recently (last couple of months) all my friends have been going out into Liverpool pretty much every Friday, leaving me with nothing to do! I am meant to be going to Uni next year but I am just thinking how stupid I will look- Someone who looks about 15 in Uni:redface: Pointless thread but arrgghhh. Another boring Friday.
I'm 17, and I used to look young for my age (now I look my age, so not much better) but I still went out in town. If you have the confidence to try and get into places then there's a decent chance you'll get in. Unless you're causing bother or you are going to a really classy place, most pubs/clubs won't be too fussed about letting in a couple of 17 year olds.

Hahaha don't worry. There are loads of people at uni who look young. Take me, for example. I'm 21 and people still tell me I look 14, and I get charged child fare whenever I go back to my parents'!!

I have had a lot of 'hehehe you're tiny! you look 14!' but well sorry, but my height isnt something I can personally control!!

You just have to take it with a pinch of salt. like others have said, we're still gonna look good when our friends start getting old and wrinkley! I just don't let it bother me anymore. I just say 'Oh do I?' and leave it at that. I changed my hair recently and some people have told me I look older, and 1 has told me I look even younger! Don't worry about it. You'll just blend in at uni. Trust me.

I'm a part time student, aged 27, and people are always I'm assuming that I'm about 18 based on the way I look.

Most people say it matter-of-factly, which I'm fine with, but others say it like it's an insult. I usually come back with something like 'well, that's your misconstrued perception!'.

At the end of the day, people tend to judge someone's age against really superficial things, like your job position at work or how much make-up you wear . . .

I don't get why this annoys and upsets people so much, just out of interest what are the advantages of looking older when you're over 18?

i'm 17 and i'm not currently in with the whole cool crowd. i dunno if its because i look young or my friends think i'm a tit but they've all started going into liverpool every friday and i'm just sorta left behind. i wouldn't say my friends are hip, cool or indie either....

it could be the same. i guess it just depends on your friends.

I'm not over 18. That's what is annoying, although I guess I will be at Uni. Just I will feel self conscious, everyone has always made a big deal out of it, had they not I would no doubt feel differently.

If it makes you feel any better im 20 and was packing to return to uni and some bloke knocked on the door and asked if my mummy was in. he even hinted at the whole why wasnt i at school thing. He thought i was 15. i probably would look older if i constantly plastered myself in makeup like most people seem to, but thats just not me!

I'm a guy and have the same problem. Nearly 19 but look 16 ish. It is hard, and is one of my concerns about starting uni this autumn. it just knocks your confidence when ppl see and treat u like a little kid. Although when people might say things, they dont always mean to offend, i tend to avoid situations where my age might be questioned anyway.

All in the eye of the beholder isn't it? Tonight I was out with 2 other girls my age (18/19),we approached a bar locally known for being tough on ID policy, were waved through. I was pretty sure we'd make it, the others had been hemming and hawwing about how they 'looked about 10'. Bottom line: it doesn't matter how young/old you think you look. The bouncers and so on may disagree.

On a side note, I have been mistaken for the mother (!) of my 18-year-old friend, when I am in fact a month younger than her.
Don't complain about looking young.

I wish somebody would ask me for I.D. once in a while - it'd make me feel a whole lot better lol.

Mind you my mother tells me I look about 12, and she doesn't mean it in a complimentary manner either, so I can't bloody win.

(I'm 23)

I'd rather look young to be honest. Im 20 but have no trouble at all getting into over 25's clubs & never get asked for ID. Even in 'strict' supermarkets like Sainsburys. Its makes me feel like a right old git. When I tell people my age they're always suprised. You whipper-snappers have it easy!

Just the other day, a girl came to me in a party asking about my age. When I told her, she was like: Really? But you look 16. What are you drinking?

It does not bother me at all though. It rather helped to get along with my classmates more quickly.
