Don't like Valentines Day

Not sure if this was the right place to post this so sorry but anyways, I've never liked or seen the point in Valentines Day but I thought it was maybe because I had never had a bf at that time of year. But now I do (I did last year as well but I had started seeing him only a week before so nothing special), and I really don't want to celebrate it with my bf by buying cards and presents and stuff. Am I being weird or unloving or does anyone else feel the same about it all?

No I honestly dont see the big appeal about Valentines Day. It is mainly a day for couples to show their love for each other. Sometimes cards are sent between people who are single & think they might like each other, but then whats the point as the card sender rarely admits it was them who sent it so its just a waste of money really.

i dont like valantines day and i have told my bf in no uncertain terms that i dont want anything. maybe im too cynical but i think its a big commercial scam.

i will probably make him a nice meal and a card anyway though, just to make sure he doesnt feel neglected :p:

I hate valentines day! You feel lonely if you are single and its even worse if you've got someone. Theres so much pressure... and tackiness!

I don't have a girlfriend and Valentines day makes me look like an idiot. Best to pretend to go out to meet someone and just hang out somewhere where no one knows you. Christmas is another horrible day and so is my birthday. I don't keep in contact with any of my friends anymore. :frown:

I hate valentines day even more cos it is now reminding me of a girl went out with last year which we started on valentines day so gonna be painful but thankfully will be skiing in America so won't have a chance to remember hopefully

I've had a boyfriend for most Valentine's Days over the past few years and I hate it too. There's just so much pressure for it to be good, how can it not be an anti-climax? For me a key ingredient to romance is spontaneity, and there's none of that in Valentine's Day. One of my best friends has her birthday on the 14th February and last year about 16 of us all went to a local restaurant that evening and had an awesome (and very loud) time. Pretty much everyone else there was on a date and it was hilarious, the whole room set up with rows of tables set for two and couples sitting across from each other looking a bit awkward. Kind of like a prison visit!

I have never liked Valentines Day. I pretty much forget it exists unless people bring it up closer to the time; however 2yrs back my first date with my ex happened to be Feb 14th and yet again, I forgot it was Valentines. Till my friends reminded me. Helpfully pointing out that he prolly hadn't forgotten.

Luckily, he wasn't the soppy type [wouldn't have dated him if he was!]. We saw 'Team America' then bought crackers+ham from Asda and ate them on the tube...

Romance isn't my forte...

I don't like it either really..I mean I'm all for celebrating love and that - but thats what anniversaries and stuff are for, right? Its just a waste of money if you ask me..and always slightly embarassing - I hate having to buy presents & cards for boyfriend's birthdays/Xmas etc. (I have this phobia of people not liking the stuff I buy them, and always get really embarassed when I have to give people stuff) without having to do it on Valentine's as well.

valentines day is just easy marketing to get money out of people. it shouldnt be just one day where u show your love for someone.. that should happen everyday... plus its always an anti climax

Valentines Day is ok for me, i guess. I just feel real sad on that day, cause i never have a gf on that day i guess. But i never get any roses and everyone around me get roses and stuff. And no one seems to care about me.

I'm not doing Valentine's Day this year. My boyfriend and I both think it's a waste of time. We know we love each other, we show it to each other every single day. And it doesn't help that it's so close to both our birthdays, either!
