Identifying the difference between an abstract and an introduction.

Hello, I'm in the process of planning to write my dissertation and I'm a bit concerned that I'll end up regurgitating the same stuff in both my abstract and my introduction. I need some help in identifying the differences between both and how I can distinguish one from the other when writing.
