Does Balliol not do formal hall??

Not really, we have 'semi-formal' hall on Tuesday's - its a served three course meal and black tie, but not gowns like proper formal hall.

It's not black tie, is it? I thought it was just lounge suits?

It's certainly not black tie for the girls (if that makes sense), else in my mind that would involve dresses etc, I just wore a smart skirt and a nice blouse. I got to sit next to the Master at my first semi-formal.

Never good. I got stuck opposite him during dinner at the ball in second year.
