Just got an offer here. Might see some of you next year

Not me, though. I have every intention of not being there!

how much is it roughly to eat in the college? (like each day)

It varies depending on how you chose to pay (Pre-paid meal card, or money on your bod card, or cash), I think dinner is roughly £3, lunch £2 something...yeah I'm helpful

It's about £2.90-something for a two course dinner, which is the main meal and dessert, soup to start is a about an extra quid. That's for college members paying by cash. If you buy a meal plan for the term, it works out around £2 a pop. Lunch is a little cheaper. Non-college members have to pay a little more, something like £3.90, although, just between you and me, if you want to bypass the highly sophisticated security system and get members rather than guests fees, answer 'yes' when they ask if you're Balliol. Cunning.

Well, of course. One would expect nothing less.

Ok. They dont provide bed sheets or anything do they?

I have to wash my own clothes/sheets?

How am I going to survive? ill pay one of you to do it.

By growing up, presumably?

but I dont want to grow up :hmmm:

Understandable... but it's difficult to avoid it.

Indeed. Although it sits badly with this ethos that has been drilled into me. If we're so effortlessly superior, why go through an arduous competition to prove it? They can keep their book tab, four poster bed-room and free meals.*

What's balliol's m/f ratio? I've heard a wide range of figures, from 80% male to 55% male to 2/3 male (as this says http://www.cherwell.org/content/8732). That seems quite a lot... 2 boys for every girl... is it noticeable? is the atmosphere really male-dominated? a bit worried :s-smilie:

As far as this year's freshers go, the mix is about 55% girls, 45% boys.

I wasn't looking forward to October, but now I know of the presence of a snow chicken, my mind has been completely changed!
Saw that igloo on facebook, its amazing, how did you build it?
Reply 254
I didn't build it myself, but my window looks out onto the quad so while I was slaving away in my room for collections there were about 4 or 5 guys who came and went throughout the day using the sainsbury's basket tub things to make bricks, and I think they had some sticks for structural support. They then spent the night in it. How they did in collections I've no idea

Are we supposed to be receiving something by post about financial stuff, sometime this month? I'm sure I read something about it in the offer letter/pack, but I think it might have been on the reply form which I've obviously sent back...

Yeah, it said they'd send us something but I don't think it said it'd necessarily be this month.
