yep i saw you lool, i was the chinese guy, i kinda guessed that was you, don't ask me why, but just did, but didnt know ur actual name, and didnt want to ask if you wre ghosh lool, looks like you liked the college.

Right now im deciding between balliol and worcester, not too sure which though, main thing swinging it for balliol for me, is i've now met 2 of the maths lecturers/tutors there, who both seemed really nice, while none at worcester, and that was one of my main criteria liking the tutors. BUT worcester's grounds were AMAZING so :s-smilie: i have only the weekend to decide as well...

i didnt get to visit christ church, but visited magdalen, and that was a bit too big and unwelcoming for me, so i feel i wouldnt really like christ church either.

nah i didnt, probably a stupid reason, but its name kinda put me off, due to its cambridge namesake.

I've been to 2 open days and I've visited:
St.Johns - i thought the place and the accomadation was quite ugly to be honest
Brasenose (visited twice) - love the people there, but place seems quite small and never managed to visit the maths tutors.
Oriel - nice place
Magdalen - too big and grand for me, and no tours on the BOTH times i went
Univ - good size, heard the maths tutors are nice people, but didnt feel right for some reason.
Balioil - again a good size, liked the 2 maths tutors, love the fact you can walk on the grass,
Worcester - lovely grounds, cheap food, alas didnt get to meet the tutors.

You might have noticed my overemphasis on 'meeting tutors' its justs i've had teachers in the past who i never got on with...

i've got one more day to decide between brasenose and baliol, i think if i had managed to meet the tutors at brasenose and liked them, i would of chosen them by now, but for now im leaning towards balliol

maybe lol, but i have enough problems deciding already, if i liked another one, would make things even worse XD

I'm just wondering, since Balliol seems to be the college with the highest amount of Physics & Philosophy students, if anyone here knows how good it is for that course. I already know that the college encourages applicants for P&P and all that but I'm having a really hard time deciding between Balliol and Oriel so I'd really like some insider information. And I couldn't attend the open day on the 19th because I live in Sweden, so...
Yeah I've been really confused about colleges, even though I've been planning to go to oxford for the last 2 and half years. I've got to send my application off tomorrow and in the last hour i've chosen balliol. Hopefully i've made the right choice.
Nope didn't get the chance at open day, but I sort of got this feeling about it.
Hey guys, i was wondering how good balliol are at pooling candidates?
Thank you.

Your computer is scanning all other computers on the Balliol network.
This action is forbidden. If you know what is doing it disable it.
Otherwise you should have your machine inspected. If it is a Dell
machine it may be one of Dell's programs. If the scanning continues
you will be disconnected until the matter can be resolved.

Anyone know if these messages are sent automatically, or does a certain IT manager spend his Saturday nights actively looking for such things?

I think the latter

Also curious. Anyone?
If anyone is applying to Balliol College, here's a gallery selected by me:

Balliol, you are distinctly rubbish at bopping and seriously lacking in talent on both the female and (I am told) the male side. Sorry.

What sort of "talent" are we talking about here?

Two can play at that.

St Hugh's, that bop was too crowded PLUS the night before a major house party, there were frankly too many of you and not enough of us, and some of your braying females could really do with lessons in bathroom etiquette.

However, I wouldn't dream of calling out your entire, probably charming college on it on a internet message board.
...seen Prof. Judith Br_own around? I emailed her last Thursday about my thesis proposal, but she hasn't got back to me yet and it's due in this Friday.

I just hope she's in Oxford!

Thanks

Edit: She replied!

The Balliol vac residence stuff is confusing me - I though JW contracts ran until Wednesday of 9th week, and that we had to apply to Wadham for vac res... and now I find a vac res request form pushed under my door. Oh well, another email to Katie...

Are you staying up for interviews then?

Mais oui - I have a tute in 9th week, and the only way to get any vac res at all was to interview host. And it was quite fun last year, apart from the bout of the flu I endured in the middle of it.

Hehehe... I broke a metatarsal last year. This year, I'm stuck behind the desk, so less potential for injury! They're paying me too...
