Why is black culture is seen as cool and thuggish?

I'm Black British, and I'm getting constantly tired of people stereotyping us as thugs and think it's cool to be thugs,we are more than that. Who do you think is responsible for this and what's your view? and pls no rude comments;keep it logical
i think it's how the media portrays black people which may give that impression to everyone else...it sucks that the media does that
It isn't "black culture" it is Southern American Scotch-Irish culture adopted by freed slaves. So it is really Southern culture in cities where the freed slaves and there ancestors moved to in the 1900's.
They tend to be good at 'thuggish smoothness' unlike a lot of white chavs who are just out an out nutters.

Anti authority but not necessarily yobbish and often quite a strong focus on brand labels.
