Kings Nightlife/Student Life In General....

I'm currently in my first year in a different University of London and having the worst time of my life! I'm a very sociable person and really looked forward to uni, but it has so far been one giant let down. The main problem was my halls of residence, I was in a self catered flat with only 3 other people (2 of which did not speak English), I was very lonely since access to other flats was restricted and meeting other people almost impossible, so all my friends came from my course. Moving halls was a nightmare, however I finally found someone to swap with however these halls are not much better (most students are postgrad, and it is very very quiet). Don't get me wrong, I love the friends I have made, however none are like me, I enjoy drinking/clubbing/parties, none of the people I have met so far are like this and I'm not living the student life I expected/want to live. My friends from home are all having an amazing time and after visiting them I just feel that this isn't the right university for me. People seem very very very focused on work and lectures and very much less on socialising and making new friends. However, I do love London and do not want to leave. I have been looking at King's, and I'm really interested in some of the mathematics courses.

Basically, what can you tell me about the Kings student life....?

Kings nightlife is unbelievable...Anyone who goes to Kings or knows anyone that goes to Kings will vouch for me...There are certain nights where absolutely everyone goes i.e. Walkabout on Wednesday, Vodka Island on Monday...and people are so easy to meet...go to Waterfront anyday between lectures and you'll meet so many people...All halls are sociable and full of fun....Honestly, its absolutely amazing...Kings peoplea re like one huuuuuuuuuge family....you'll make course friends, hall friends and meet random people...And if you join a team or society its even better..Your a guy right? into sports?

A lot of people who turn down UCL/LSE for King's do so because KCL has a reputation for having a better student life. But, IMO, UCL will probably have just as good a social life as KCL. LSE...hmm

Hey, I'm the kind of person you are. I like to party a lot etc and therefore KCL is my first choice, but I didn't get an answer yet. I've also applied to 3 other UoL, can you tell me which uni you are at, so I make sure not to go there?
Thanks, Tawy

To be honest, I didn't mention what uni i'm at in my first post because I didn't want people to decide not to go there because of my experiences, I know many many people who are having an amazing time, and to be honest I think most of it comes down to where you live in your first year, sadly i got dumped in a place known for its anti-socialness. I knew no-one in london when i came here, and I felt very very alone, even though I'm sociable I did not have the courage to wander around my building knocking on the doors of random flats to meet people. I've made some great friends here and if I do choose to drop out and go to kings I will be very very sad to leave them, but my course doesn't seem like the right one for me, and the people in general don't seem like that right people...
However, if you reallllllllly want to know where I am then drop me a message and I'll give you my msn

To clear other things up... no im not a guy, lol.

Also, how friendly are people in kings? not just the nightlife, the student life in general...?

People are lovely! Everyone comes here for a good time, so you can find lots of people similar to you. There are so many societies too, which is great! I'm a first year here (after a year at another uni which i didn't like) and i love it!

I've got an offer from UCL for Information Management for Business. I'm really happy about it and would love to go to UCL, but I'm not really sure about the course. Does anyone know how Business related it really is and if there's a big difference to normal B&M? =)

King's has 3 main campi: Strand (that's where Business Management is palced if I'm not mistaken), Waterloo and Guy's. The Strand campus consists of one big ugly building from the 60s and a couple of other buildings: very "complex" (-> i.e. it can be hard to find your way during the first weeks through the confusing system of basements etc.; we actually got a "How to identify teaching rooms leaflet). Seriously, the Strand doesn't look great from the outside, but a lot of refurbishment has been done and your inside the building -> you don't have to look at the "nice" facade. :p:

B&M takes place in the Waterloo campus, which is miles ahead in terms aesthetics in comparison to strand campus

Lol yeah true, but competition isn't too tough in that case.
I prefer the Strand building to the Waterloo building...weird I know, but I think that it's because Waterloo campus' modernity scares me a bit lol. Although saying that the best way to describe the Strand's set out is to say that it is a rabbit warren!
