I hear it's pretty bad. Most painkillers and alcohol don't mix too well.

Reply 2

im not allowed to mix alcohol with ibuprofen. though im on max dosage per day and on other things aswell. but i wouldn't advise it

Reply 3

You're not supposed to. Saying that I did it once and as far as I know nothing happened but I still wouldn't advise it.

Reply 4

why not just drink without painkillers? if you have enough to drink you'll be forget about the pain

Reply 5

I have certainly done it quite a few times and it's never harmed me. Then again, the alcohol should numb the pain so you might as well go without the painkillers.

Reply 6

ibuprofen attacks the stomach lining, making you more susceptible to the effects of alcohol. As a rule mixing medication and alcohol is a no-no. I certainly wouldn't drink alot whilst taking ibuprofen.

Reply 7

i think ibuprofen is fine with alcohol, it's paracetamol that you shouldn't take with it.

if you're drunk and in pain, what else are you gonna do? i always do it and it never hurt me.

if you take some paracetemol for pain and go out and get plastered it won't make a difference.
if you take ibuprofen (and have something to eat) then go and get palstered it won't make a difference.

If you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach and go and get plastered it can upset your stomach lining.
If you down a dozen paracetemol and go and get plastered it will upset your liver.

So if you have period pain do take some painkiller go out and have a good time. it won't harm you.
If you come back after a night out and have a headache/dancing related injuries, then do take a couple of pain killers before bed.

Upset your liver? Heh, a dozen paracetamol is enough to kill you.

[edit] Ooooh and drinking on paracetamol doesn't increase liver damage. Neither does drinking while taking a deliberate overdose increase your chances of dying: that's a myth. Some research shows that alcohol can actually REDUCE the effectiveness of a paracetamol overdose as the alcohol and paracetamol are competing for metabolic pathways.

The main thing is to eat something if you do mix them, otherwise you'll be sick.

Sometimes it amazes me how stupid people are to put their health in the trust of a bunch of strangers online.
