Date ideas for a "not quite date"

Hello

I have arranged...or want to arrange a meeting with a 'friend' of the opposite sex (I am female), although it is not an official date as such. (I think there is an ulterior motive on my part and on his  ) But I would like it if anyone could share any ideas for something that we could do together without it screaming "date" or putting any pressure and expectations into the spotlight.

I have been looking forward to this for AGES

Thanks in advance (I haven't a clue what to do apart from going to the cinema or going for a coffee)

P.s. We are both 20

Honestly? the g/f and I tend to suprise each other with dates.
She can't drive anymore so if she wants me to go somewhere in the car she will give me directions without telling me how far away we are going.
Some good ones we've been on:

Camping in random places (dont forget to take water!)
Drive to countryside + picnic
Preserved steam railway
Beach for the day
4 wheeling
Santapod
London
Carvery
Curry night
Pub resteraunt

Bad ones:
Safari park - fecking monkeys stole my arial :frown:
Cinema (she jumped and threw about half a litre of coke down me) lol
Museum! tedium :/

We've had waaayy more good ones than bad ones. TBH, being together was enough. The long distance thing takes its toll. :frown:

Loving the way the museum was dull but the preserved steam railway was amazing

Gee thanks! Aww they all sound sweet. But we're not together...we've just got a little "thing" going and I just want to spend some time with him to see if that's all it is. LOL Nawty monkeys

Surprises are great so I might consider it! You think an evening in London might be good?

Thanks again!

Hey! :frown:
Actually, she was more excited than me. Never seen a steam engine before. She had a very sheltered childhood, bless her. :frown:

Hmmm, well I have limited experience. When I met up with my now bf we went for a walk around the city (he hadn't been before) and then it just went pub, dinner, my room ...

I'd say go somewhere YOU know and show him around - it's like sharing something really nice - and then give it the opportunity to grow into something else. It's nice to discover things together, but doing a bit of a tour is quite fun for an early date.

Awww thanks Blissy...that sounds nice

I would do that if I knew anywhere myself...LOL. Maybe a little trip round London is in order. Do you think its a good idea NOT to tell him where we are going in advance? Do guys like surprises?

I'm new to all this

Yes, yes we do.
Only good ones though... like... "i found a fiver" um... bad ones like er... "was that your cat we just hit" are a bit of a no-no. :p:

Guys like to know that they are in control. Dont surprise him with something that will throw him off the control. :s-smilie: I cant stress on it enough.

Like last time I was out with a girl to a movie and she offered to pay for my movie and pop-corn. I kinda wobbled at that. Yeah, it was nice of her, but I would have liked it if we both paid for ourselves.

Haha I wasnt about to spring anything on him like that. Maybe just offer a few suggestions and see what he thinks about it. I just don't want there to be any pressure or anything and formalities. Just a little link/ hook up/ meeting...

So how would I go letting him know that he has the 'control'?

Walk along the river Thames if you're in London! Then you can choose from loads of other things.. have a look round some shops, have a drink, a coffee, get something to eat, get on a boat.. that way there are loads of possibilities if it gets a bit boring, but equally as easy just to spend time walking and talking. It's one of my favourite things to do with my boyfriend.

Edit: he'll be able to be in control by saying where you should go, where you stop to eat etc.

Go bowling! Always the safest option.....

EDIT: This way for the 'let him know he's in control thing' you can pretend to be crap at it, and he can show you how to do it and be all manly :yy:

Thanks prettyblueeyes! That sounds like an idea...and there's no (added) pressure or formalities like opening doors and pulling out chairs so early on.

Okay so now I have to ask him! :s-smilie:

Wish me luck! :s-smilie:
