duh..Kingsdale is a crappy state school (it really is :frown:)..and Alleyns School is also a dump.

fair enough if you havent heard of DC (since we introduced IGCSEs weve fallen in league tables) but surely youve heard of Westminster and JAGs (our sister school) both of which are top5/10 in UK?

Wycombe Abbey. A fine blend of academic success, ducks and frolicks.

Besides, it didn't block TSR like many schools do. :p:

One vote for Scabby Abbey. Thanks.

All of the schools the OP listed are Catholic schools ... so assuming you're just including those in your list then I think that St Mary's Ascot is probably the best academically - although Woldingham (not on your list) is probably of a similar if not higher ranking. Given that neither Downside, Worth or Stonyhurst (and why no mention of Ampleforth?) are *that* academically selective, they are unlikely to be in the very top league of schools in the UK

My friend, this is not a debate. I don't mind some evidence to back up peoples choices but you have made yours so now let it rest before I have to prove the superiority of the said Catholic schools.
Errrr, mine obviously! :p: Notre Dame High School Norwich.

You're welcome lol ... I didn't recognise Ampleforth by the initials

But from your list there isn't really a 'best' - best in what sense / for what purpose / for who? You can't really compare single sex and co-ed schools ... St Mary's Ascot isn't best if you're a bloke lol (although ...) Given that only the girls schools in your list are highly academically selective, you can't really compare them all results-wise. Worth (single-sex boys), for example, has a reputation of being a slightly 'gentler' school, so can't really be compared with Woldingham (highly selective single sex girls). The co-eds in your list are all known as being schools with a very broad intake - lots of allowances made, for example, for siblings. So I'm not really sure what your criteria for a 'best' are?

If you are trying to say that these schools are best if you're a Catholic, then of course they are lol. However, unless you're a bit more specific then it's going to be hard to help you find out which is 'best'. I'm assuming that you're looking for a school?
