No, it's fine for you and all the other new offer-holders to post here.

I was at Clare and yes, I did stay on for clinical years. I moved to London for FY1 though and am still here, though plan to apply for registrar jobs elsewhere next year.

Brilliant!

Ah okay - how did/have you found your FY1 year in London? I assume it was quite different to your time in Cambridge?

Our thread seems to have been merged with this... I guess we can chat here if this is where they've moved our thread too. :/

Don't see why not, there doesn't seem to be many other people using this thread at the moment .

I'm from Berkshire  Bio, chem, maths, Latin. Do you enjoy geography?

London is very different from Cambridge, that's true. The patients are different from in the Fens, as are some of the diseases, but most of the job is pretty similar. I mostly did it to be with my (now) husband but professionally it's been a good move for me too.

I have absolutely no idea where that is, my english geography is not that good .
Yes I love geography! I did the geography of health module last year which was so interesting! I did Latin for GCSE loved it, especially the Latin Literature!

Sounds good! My insurance offer is going to be for Kings, quite like the idea of working in London at one point .

Aha, studying geography and you don't know the locations of the British counties, unacceptable!!... it's next to London, about 40 minutes by train. Maybe you've heard of Windsor or Eton? They're in Berkshire :L I enjoy studying the literature but memorising it is such effort! Haha

No I don't, we don't need to know the location of anything for geography :P.
Ohh yes I've heard of both of those places! Do you live near Legoland - that's near/in Windsor right? Haha I used to love memorising it - that's part of the fun - but I guess the texts are much longer at A level! :P.

Fair enough - I remember having to memorise cities once but I think I was in year 7 at the time so you know

It is! It's awesome!! My favourite place when I was little

300 lines of poetry and similar volumes of prose.. The poetry's much more fun, because the prose is just lawyer-y texts, woohoo :L

Hahaha no city memorising at A level, or colouring, despite rumours .

I do love Legoland! You're not far from Cambridge then?.

Wow that's a lot! Not sure how much we had to do for GCSE :P. Did you do OCR? We did the Aeneid Book 2 - well parts of it anyway!

No colouring! Nooooooo :frown: We did some colouring in biology at the beginning of the year - it was great

Not too bad - like 2 hours or so by train? How long does it take you?

We did OCR and did the Aeneid, not sure what book though :L We're doing lines 1-299 of Aeneid 2 this year though

They usually go on all term. It sounds quite fun, but if you are one of the lucky ones who "survives" to a late stage in the game, you have to become a virtual hermit as people will try to "kill" you if you leave your room.

Does this happen in all the colleges? It sounds quite fun

Oh cool that sounds quite interesting. I might check out a few episodes online first, though

Oh yeah, how comes you decided to apply to John's btw?

Yeah that's how I watched it although I think channel 4 was only a week behind the US in showing it.

Hmmm didn't look at many other colleges but it's big, has nice architecture, sick may ball, river runs through it, playing fields right near by/really good facilities and is very central. Otherwise tutors seemed nice and I liked that it takes a large number of medics ad offers accommodation for most of your course if not all.

I do love a bit of colouring - got my colouring anatomy book .

It takes about an hour and a half on the train, but only an hour to drive .

Oooh nice I really enjoyed book 2 .

The Assassins' Guild is a university-wide club so your victim, or your killer, could be from any college.

So wouldn't that make it extremely hard to kill someone if you'd never met them before, since the uni has thousands of students?

That's the point, and is why it takes all term. I think that when you sign up to the guild you have to tell them where you live, and they probably have access to at least your student card photo. Plus with facebook etc people can find more pictures quite easily.

Would be amusing if you jump out on some guy pretend-stab them and then realise it's the wrong person... would not want to have to explain that away
