Unfortunately you won't get any extra money for that reason.

No. There is a basic amount of loan which everyone is entitled to, regardless of how much their parents earn. Then there is an additional amount which is income-assessed - so people with a lower parental income get more loan. If you don't fill in details of parental income, you are only entitled to the basic amount.

IIRC you have to fill in details of other children still living at your parents' home, but I can't remember if you have to put in information about other children receiving financial support at university - the latter bit never applied to me.

Well that's a shame :frown: Thanks for replying anyway

The rumours are kind of true ; we have 6 supervisors but we don't see all every week so on average there are *only* about 4 supervisions per week...

How did you find your mock then? When are you getting results back?

Mock steeplechase tomorrow! (or today if you're in the other group...) So scared! :O

And do they all give you essays?

I don't know all of my mock results yet, but they went much, much better than expected thankfully! Same goes for the steeplechase.

How's it been for you?
Hi, this is mainly for all successful Cambridge medics. What did you do for A level and what grades did you obtain?

Also will these a levels suffice:
1) Chemistry
2) Biology
3) Physics
4) Maths
5) Further Maths

I plan to drop F.Maths at AS.

Thanks!
My AS's were
History - A
Biology - A
Chemistry - A
Maths (A2) - A*

average ~93%

offer A*AA in my sciences (not including Maths, since I'm doing FMaths)

and yes, those subjects are fine since Cambridge only need two sciences (though it says in their stats the vast majority of people who get offers have three sciences)

Have a look here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Medics_and_Applicants_Profiles#Cambridge for an idea of what sort of grades/subjects people who got into Cambridge (and those who didn't!) achieved.

Those subjects are fine for Cambridge.

Hi have any offer holders managed to complete their health assessment form yet? My GP is taking ages to fill in their page and I keep having to go back and forth because they want me to book appointments with the nurse, then go see the doctor again etc. :s-smilie:

yeh I've filled mine in although since I had some of the injections done with occupational health at my local hospital (I have a bank clerical assistant job there) it meant I had to get a copy of vaccination record with them before I went to see my GP. It was a bit irritated. I sat with my GP when he filled in the form since it only took about 5-10 mins ish.

Ah ok thanks, hopefully my GP does a similar thing. I have an appointment to get my first Hep B vaccination and then they said to make another appointment to see the doctor soon after that so I'm hoping that's when they'll fill it in for me :P

It says on the back of the sheet that they understand that due to the length of time required to have the Hep B most people will not have completed the full vaccination programme. I've sent mine to them but I've only had the three injections so I still need to have the blood test but that isn't due until after the deadline.

Just wondering, have you had the BCG?

The sentence about "unless contraindicated it will be recommended students have it when they start medical training" makes me think I don't have to get mine just yet?

I haven't had any HepB/BCG vaccinations and when I called Occupational Health, they said I could get it done when medical training starts

Are we expected to return both the vaccines/student health assessment by the 1st March? I thought it was just student health assessment?

On the immunisation sheet it says "The completed form and copies of relevant tests should be returned to Occupational Health with your completed health assessment form." I assumed that means they both need to be in by 1st March?

Oh dear, I didn't see that part! I need to start taking some of these vaccines then, though luckily I've got my Hep B booked for next week  Are you leaving the 2nd dose/3rd dose Hep B boxes as blank? As I suppose I could ask the nurse when I would have my 2nd/3rd injections, but that may be inaccurate

Yeah I think that's what I'll do. I'm seeing my GP on Tuesday and hopefully she'll fill it in then and I can't see what else we could do about the 2nd and 3rd doses so I'll probably leave them blank or maybe write a little note saying I'll be getting them soon

You two are lucky, my GP refused to give me the vaccinations, they said I'll have to get them done at uni :frown:

That's not really uncommon I was in the same position. I managed to get all my Hep B vaccines and a BCG jab from occupational health once I started. You'll probably have your first appointment within the first couple of weeks.
