I guess it's some sort of lower class bling which is more affordable, and the influence from hip hop culture.

I assume that the poor have less money to spend on clothes so buying clothing and footwear that is suitable for multiple circumstances is probably wise.

They are in poor areas with plebs / chavs... I never see people wearing them in wealthy areas though

I see a lot of middle class white kids who listen to grime wearing them

I mainly see eastern Europeans wearing them.

Male clothing has always originated from (manual) workwear, sportswear or military wear. The dinner jacket, for example, is another piece of clothing that came from sportswear, but this was posh people sports like hunting so it's "respectable".

How can you not wear trainers? They're comfortable. But I'm not a fan of tracksuits as an everyday casual wear
