Reputation of UEA, get you a good job?

Hey i was wondering if any of you guys knew what the reputation of the University of East Anglia is like and how employers view it?

My other option is cardiff and while i think that may have the better reputation overall, I still haven't ruled out UEA and want to know if it is a well respected enough uni to get students onto graduate training schemes i.e in PR or advertising.

Anywyas, i would love to hear what you have to say!

Thank youuuu xxx

I don't know, if you study medicine at UEA I imagine you'll get a job, if you study philosophy and religion at UEA you might find it a bit more difficult. It depends on the subject I'd say.

UEA is a good university, as long as you're not going for ultra competetive jobs (IB, consultancy etc.) then it should be fine. The class of your degree is also very important.

What about chances of Big 4 Accountancy firms looking at a UEA grad with a 2.1 or 1st degree in a business related subject?

My sister has a 2.i BA (Hons) degree in Business Economics from UEA, she's now a deputy editor of a very successful economics magazine, working in London, she's on a lot of money a year (haven't asked her how much), but she has a really nice house and car!

Personally if it was a choice between UEA and Cardiff I would pick Cardiff, but either of those two universities are fine and shouldn't hamper your chances of getting a decent job.

angelil, why would you pick cardiff out of interest?

I'm hoping to go into public/media relations so i guess work experience is the key there anyways!

You're right about work experience being the key thing in your trade

Haha, my choice isn't really based on anything substantial! I gather Cardiff is better all-round whereas UEA is really only known for its creative writing prowess (although I should stress that UEA certainly isn't bad and you won't be put at any disadvantage if you do go there!). Plus I just like Wales
