FLASHED

Was giving my friend a lift for a favour.

On the way back was flashed by a red light camera in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. I went through it literally as it changed red. (Yes I know I shouldn't have gone I don't know why I didn't stop)

The problem is, I'm 17 and passed in April. I got flashed by a speed camera in April and did a speed awareness course.

If/when the letter comes through the post, will I still be eligible for a red light awareness course? I'm assuming not.

Hopefully nothing comes through on the off chance but let's be honest it probably will, meaning I'm ******.

My mum went mad last time, just imagine how she'll react this time. If it comes through I'd have to just not tell her and pay the fine but at the same time she'll finnd out anyway when I come to renew. How long do pts stay on record for/insurers ask about it for?

Thanks.
To think I came onto this thread thinking a bird had flashed her tits at you...

Nottinghamshire Safety Camera Partnership does offer a course for a Red Traffic Light offence, which is called “What’s Driving Us”. On the NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) you must name the driver and fill in parts 1 to 4 on the back.

You can only attend & complete one what’s driving us course in any 3 year period from the date of the offence.

Time into red does not exceed 3 seconds.

This won't apply as the op has already done a speed awareness course.

I can't find any information stating that if you have attended a SAC that you aren’t eligible for a What’s Driving Us course.

One of the criteria for eligibility is: that you have not attended a What’s Driving Us course before or vice versa (that you have not attended a Speed Awareness Course before)

It does not state What’s Driving Us or Speed Awareness Course; they are also covering two difference offences.

If you do have any sources to back your claim, that’s fair enough, I’ll concede.

How do I know if I’m eligible for a Speed Awareness course?

To be eligible you must meet these criteria: You admit to being the driver of the vehicle and this is received by us within 42 days of the date of the offence

You haven't attended a Speed Awareness course within the last three years

The speed you were travelling at the time of the offence must fall within the acceptable speed range (Speed limit + 10% + 9mph). For example, in a 30 mph limit you could attend a course up to 42mph inclusive.

Car will be impounded and you will have to serve jail time.

Your partner will leave you, your family will disown you. You'll not be eligible for any work on your departure from the slammer. You'll either hit depression or become a low-grade rent boy giving hand jobs for burgers.

Thar's someone that speaks from experience.
I got flashed by a car coming towards me - so I slowed down and half a mile later there was a police officer with a speed gun - so I was well pleased (havent seen one of them for years) even though I would not have been speeding anyway.

Standard thing that's not included in the highway code.
If you see a rozzer camera van it's up to you to flash your lights and give the thumbs down sign for the next two or three cars you see coming the other way.

Sounds like you really perhaps should lose your license. Going through a red light is silly enough but doing it when there is a (in my experience, always very visible) camera there? Suggests you weren't concentrating at all.

Offering of a course is entirely at the discretion of the force but they almost always do when possible because of ££££, as opposed to fines which go to central government.
So you've managed to get caught jumping 2 red lights within 4 months of driving? People like you really shouldn't be on the roads.

Except for the fact that OP HAS attended a SAC before?

If my reading of that is correct then he will not be eligible for a Red light course.
