It only takes one (verruca).....

I have a problem. Actually I have many problems, but this is not the time.

Anyway, basically my foot is practically encrusted with around 12 verrucas. Now whilst I personally feel this is quite an achievement, my bf and mates are slightly fed up of them, (I do like to show them off at most occassions).

I therefore have resolved to get rid of them (its actually quite heartbreaking, we've been through a lot), so does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to get rid of them, or maybe I should just let nature take its course? Oooo, and has anyone ever taped banana skin to them? I have heard that is a treatment, but I have a slight phobia of banana skins (the banana part is great, but the skin is freaky!), so am not letting one go near my babies!

Oh and also, to all you people who feel unloved and worthless and think they will never have a relationship, take comfort in the fact that if I, a verruca ridden purple haired loon with a passion for coleslaw, can find someone, and manage to keep hold of them for 12 months (and still going strong!), then my lord there is hope for you yet!

Try the chemists. They've usually got stuff for verucas.

I can help! Me! Me! I had the same thing for 8 (yes count em) years! Not nice. Nothing moved them, not basooka, doctors freezing them off or the wonderful power of prayer :p: Then I was told of Avoca, a little green pen you can get from the pharmacist and it's amazing! Took two applications and now they're all gone forever! Only problem though is it stains anyone and anything brown/purple so actually bother to follow the instructions (unlike me) and then you won't end up with brown fingers for 3 weeks (alas, like me).

My verrucas arrived 6 years before my boyfriend did and it's our second anniversary a week today, so indeed, hope for all verrucary girls! (Indeed he was more scared of the brown patches covering the verrucas (I couldn't be assed with the wee plasters, again possible a mistake) than the verrucas themselves  xxx

That many? I'd say straight to the doctor.

Nah, didn't work I'm afraid. One (rubbish) doctor said just leave them - they'll go eventually and I was like 'isn't eight years enough for you?' and the other started to get rid of them but I went back three times and got bored. Avoca worked second time! (I don't work for Avoca btw, forgive me) xx

I've had a massive verruca for about 7 years. I'm about to try to cut it out. This will hurt. Wish me luck.

Try thuja. It's a homeopathic remedy that you can take orally or apply directly to the verruca...I haven't tried it personally but apparently it's one of the most effective methods.

I had one tiny one once when I was about 11. I tried the stupid paste stuff the doctor gave me (which was allegedly supposed to take it off gently layer by layer while providing a protective covering - *******S) and got so frustrated I dug it out with a pair of scissors.

If you have THAT many they'll probably see it as a burn-them-off-in-the-clinic thing rather than prescribing you useless stuff that they do if you only have one verucca.

And... homeopathy for a verucca. *says nothing*

Really? More effective than faerie dust and lucky charms?

I had this exact problem!
8 veruccas on my feet and nothing worked at all, but this year I decided it was time to get rid of the little buggers. Now they are nearly all gone  my secret? apple cider vinegar... or any vinegar for that matter. a little bit of cotton wool soaked in the vinegar put directly on to the spot, then a load of tape around my foot to hold it in place then a sock on top to hold it all in place. after about 1 week of doing that every night my foot hurt quite a bit but at least they have all gone!
Try it, I guaruntee it will work!

Well I don't know...you'll have to boil it up with some frogs legs on the night of a full moon and find out for yourself.

Hey, I had a similar problem years ago, I was going to the doctors every 3 weeks for a year to have them frozen and they just multiplied, it was a nightmare. I stopped going to the doctors, used Bazooka for 3 weeks and every single one had gone, you just have to be really dedicated with it, apply it every night, in the morning take an emery board to it and apply more to have on during the day, then file them again, and put more on for over night etc etc. Worked great for me!

I remember my doctor telling me to peel away the skinn and eventually they will go.... I had them for nearly 6 months and bought that chemical stuff,

You put a little patch on it and it turns the skin acidic, dunno wot they called, after around a week they fell out without any pain.

Its quite funny I should see this thread today. I went to the doctor about the same thing just this morning.

I can well and truly beat all of you. My foot is basically one gigantic verruca. On my right foot, in various places I have large verrucas (heel, big toe, opposite side to ball), I have a few proper big warts under my toes, and the ball of my foot is full of hundreds of tiny "mosaic"-type verrucas taking up the entire of the ball of my foot. I also have many many small warts and more verrucas gradually appearing on and between my toes and around the rest of my foot. I'd take a photo to prove that my foot is a giant verruca but it'd be too gross for words.
I am also starting to get more on my left foot. Not as many as on my right foot though, I fear that would be impossible.
Not only feet, I now have 3 verruca thingies on my right thumb, and a new one growing on my left.

So yeah, they're making me miserable. If I look at the bottom of my right foot for longer than 30 seconds I will burst into tears guarunteed. I wear socks around everyone, my partner included, too embarrassed and ashamed to tell anyone other than my parents. My new years resolution is to get rid of them this year, because I've had them for a few years now and things have only gone steeply downhill.

I went to the doctors today to see if he could help. I've tried stuff like salaac and bazooka in the past, as well as home freezing kits, and nothing. And you know what he said to me? He said there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. He said the clinic doesn't freeze off or remove warts from feet anymore, only hands. Apparantly I have to wait until my body becomes immune to the virus, which could be years and years away.

So I'm pretty miserable cos apparantly there's nothing I can do. I was hoping he'd say there was some magical operation I could have to remove the bottom of my feet and grow new skin, but sadly no luck. Meh.

I was watching QVC this week  and they had some stuff on called Pedikur. It was a liquid that you applied to the soles of your feet with cotton wool, left for a while and then you could kind of scrape off all of the hard, crusty skin with a little plastic scraper. It was very cool, in a vomit-inducing way. It wasn't cheap though (£25), but I wonder whether this would be any good for verrucas?

I remember that when I had them when I was little, we always had to go to the chiropodist and have them cut out ... To the last poster, maybe a chiropodist could help you? They might know a bit more about verrucas than your average GP and might be able to suggest something to help you. Doesn't seem right to offer you no help when you're obviously so distressed by it ... Anyway, good luck

Had one that stayed with me for 6 months. Tried bazooka and even had liquid nitrogen put on them.
Finally I lost my temper, got out my lock knife and started digging untill I found a little black hair-like thing in the middle. I knew this was the root as just touching it with the blade would give intense pain.

A pillow stuffed in the mouth and a pair of tweezers later and I was pain free again.

Although... my mother did hear me shout "bastard thing" at the top of my lungs at the top of the garden 1/3 of an acre away. :s-smilie: oops!

I once had LOADS on my foot, they even spread to my hands and I started to get tiny warts on my face. My GP said there was nothing he could do so I went to another really old slightly eccentric one. He prescribed this footsoak formaldihyde stuff (basically embalming fluid) which I had to use for about 3 weeks and buff the dried skin away with those rough nail file things. BRILLIANT stuff. Apparently it is a really old fashioned treatment but it completley got rid of them without any pain at all.

Okay, what you need to purchase (after two years, this finally got rid of my pair) is Wartex. You apply daily after a bath or shower and you also use a pumice stone before application to rub away the dying skin. Give it a couple of weeks and you'll notice a massive difference. The key here is persistence though, you need to keep at it and stick to the routine.

My God, this thread is full of sufferers! I've had about three on my right foot and they just haven't budged for the past three years!
I'm spoilt for choice as to which of your suggestions to take...

I had 4 for about 2 months, went for a good pedicure (when they scrap your sole with special thingy to get the old skin off, looks like a potato-peeler), it hurt a little bit but they never came back.
