Yep, this happened to me when I was about ten. The tooth can be made to look and feel completely normal. :smile:

EDIT: I don't mean I went and got pissed when I was 10... :biggrin:

yes, they can. i did a similar thing to you over xmas, booked an emergency dentist appointment, and it was fixed the next day. only took about 10mins, and looks good as new. don't worry!

Yes it can be done, how they do it feels weird but it's not painful :smile: it's a relatively simple thing as well, one problem you can get with it though is that you tend to get a buildup of "stuff" in the gap between the real tooth and the fake bit of tooth, i have that problem and it gets annoying for me when i look but i don't think many people would notice and also you can get it cleaned whenever you go to the dentist

I've never had that problem. I guess it depends on where the tooth is, and the shape of the chip.

mine's on my front tooth and also the fake bit is slightly higher up than the real bit (if that makes any sense) so there's a slight gap between them, i have problems with buildup on my teeth generally though it just appears even if i brush my teeth pretty well

yes but make sure you tell them thats what you are going for. I chipped my tooth but already had an appointment for the next day so i was really pleased at that small bit of luck. I went and they refused to do anything about it because all my form said was 'routine check' and i hadnt requested it at the time, so they refused to do anything about it. bastards.

Suggest that James' dentist was more skilled.

After going out last night to celebrate the end of exams with my uni flatmates, a rather drunk girl banged into me as I was walking to the toilets. Her shoulder must have hit my mouth pretty hard because it resulted in a chunk of my tooth being chipped off. Bit weird but can the dentist fix it to look normal again? I quite liked my smile lol.

i chiped my tooth at a young age when i was swimming i was doing a spin in the water i went soo deep my teeth hit the bottom it hurt soo much but the dentist place it back together i was shocked when he did it lol

my teeth chipped twice :biggrin: one time when i was diving into a shallow pool for my test and secondly when my sister punched me. it all looks fine after its done and you wont even be able to tell the difference

My front tooth was chipped, half of it came off and it was pretty bad. Then Miss.Dentist fixed it up with some filling kinda stuff, until I had a crown fit, and all looks and feels normal. No worries!

I chipped two of my front upper teeth in a science lesson on a gas tap ;no;
About 4-5 years ago...Didnt hurt, however at the time it happened it was a massive shock which wasnt to pleasnt

I went to guys hospital and it took about 1-2 hours per tooth..Cant complain though its been good up to now...However with all the pressure and tightening of my braces i just hope that they will last and wont have to get them fixed again

I chipped my front tooth when I was about 10 by falling over with a bike. The tooth died and I had to have a root canal to it. The tooth was fixed with some kind of stuff they use for filling later. It became a different colour, a bit darker than the rest of the teeth and now I've had it redone, and they bleached it from the inside to make it more like the other teeth. Hardly anyone notices it anymore unless I point it out.

Wow, this seems more common than I realised. We've got enough members to start a "chipped tooth society"!

To the OP: You've got nothing to worry about. :smile:
