I don't drink tap water whenever possible. But if I did, I would definitely filter it, it tastes like **** sometimes.

No because the water where I live tastes pretty good. However at my dad's about 10 miles away the water tastes vile. So he buys big bottles of water and we drink that instead. I can understand why people would filter it though, a lot of crap goes into water

Water is water, does it look clear? its good to drink then! you have an intestine and a kidney to filter it for you! in fact you have two!

Drinking unfiltered water increases your risk of developing a kidney stone. Which is why I spend 20 pounds a week on bottled mineral water.

Tap water is already filtered, I don't see the point of having a water filter unless you're out in the countryside with no fresh water supply. Impurities in tap water are safe; health regulations on water companies mean they have to use safe/beneficial chemicals in the water. Your local supplier is not going to try to kill you - if they did they would lose revenue from bills.
