Aching/uncomfortable legs

For the past few months I've been having problems with my calves/lower legs. I'm finding they seem to tingle and ache a lot of the time, and they constantly feel uncomfortable. When I sit down, I constantly have to move about as it gets uncomfortable. I also get pins and needles a lot more readily than I used to.

Does anyone else get this? Does it sound like anything to worry about? Or is it just a consequence of getting older?!

This happens to me occasionally, but never for a long period of time. Try calling NHS Direct if you're concerned; you should be able to get a qualified response from them.

Restless leg syndrome maybe. I get it sometimes.

Keep hydrated, don't drink too much alcohol and exercise more. If it's restless leg syndrome that might make a difference.

Try doing a few flexibility stretches....like sit on he floor with ur legs infront of u and reach down and touch ur toes...keep that posision for a few seconds....because the tingling means not enough blood is getting to the muscles...and stretching causes blood to rush to the muscles.Hope it helps.

Try watching out in what (maybe recurring) situations this problem crops up. Best to "watch" the situation for some time, like 2-4 weeks and maybe write down when and how long this happens. Plus what makes it go away. This is in order to find out whether there might be a common cause or pattern. Even if you can't see one a doctor might.
Then go to the doctor's with the information if it keeps coming. There are many possible reasons that can't be found out without examining you and getting at least some of the above mentioned info.

Thanks for the replies.

I've noticed it actually happens more when I'm lying down, and occasionally when I'm sitting down. So I assume it might have something to do with circulation. I'll try stretching etc.

I'm not sure what it is, so I'll google restless leg syndrome!
